Description
1954 Buick skylark convertible.
Been off the road since 1972 . The car was parked due to the owner prior to me not being able to drive anymore, he was older, he bought it new and decided hang onto it left it outside. The interior got weathered but due to living in a dry climate the rust is very minimal. Mainly the floors and surface rust due to the original paint being worn. So you get no surprises on the body. There has never been any body work done on this car.
I finally acquired it I’ve been keeping it under covers, outside fully tarp really well, and the car is about in the same condition as when I got it. I’ve owned it almost 30 years.
I believe the color is called Lido green and the interior is a 2 tone green. There is only 2 small spots of rust on the passenger rocker and a 8” line across the bottom of the hood (see pictures) The rest of the rockers all look good, the trunk looks great zero rust . Some kids broke out all glass and damaged the instrument panel plastic covers.
The motors all original and solid doesn’t seem like any parts are missing. The parts I know I am missing are : the emblem on the front of the hood, the emblem that goes on the back of the trunk, and then a small molding near the gas filler door.
I have five wire wheels they off of it and in boxes, they are pretty nice, the spinners have been miss placed , but you’d probably want to buy new ones anyway. The chrome is in fair to poor condition, but both bumpers are in excellent condition, no dents or dings but need replayed.
The good part is the tail light housings are in really good condition, (see pictures) they hardly have any pitting and what pitting they do have it’s in the back and it’s fairly shallow. There are no cracks or dings. These are a real nice set of tail light housings, which are really hard to find and extremely expensive. Usually when you find them on cars they are very pitted or damaged.
As you know this is a fairly rare car, I believe the production is 836. I think there’s around 40 known to exist most of them are all restored. This car is one of the unknown ones which there are probably only a couple in the world that aren’t restored. It’s a dry western car which is great as you know, the cars back east are usually extremely rusted and anytime you try to do anything it seems like all the bolts break off. This is a real nice car to restore, it’s one of the top dollar values in the 50s. That makes it a great investment car.
I had big dreams to redo this car however, due to health reasons I have to let it go.
Please few free to ask any questions and I will answer the best That I can .
