Description
Selling my 1978 Cadillac Coupe DeVille D'Elegance. Beautiful original condition. I drove this car for almost a year before a head gasket went and I've decided to sell the car rather than fixing it. Too many vehicles. The car is rust free and ran beautifully right up until the head gasket went. I had recently put quite a bit of money into the vehicle to use it as one of my summer daily drivers. The carburetor was just rebuilt by the famous Hobbs Carburetor Shop in New Hampshire. I did the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, oil change. Most importantly if you know these cars I replaced the original factory nylon timing chain and gear set for a heavy duty metal unit from the guys at Cad500.com. All of this work was performed last summer. I also just replaced the factory rear bumper fillers ( the part you always see broken between the taillights and the rear fenders) and had them painted. All this car needs is a head gasket. I wish I had the time to fix it as the car is ready to roll otherwise.Everything on the car works. Everything. It's not a show car but an awsome driver in an awesome color combination! I'm Irish so maybe I'm a little biased. The green shag carpet is like nothing else seen today. The car ran and drove excellent before the 40~ year old head gasket let go. The brakes are strong, the front end is tight and doesn't wander, the steering was effortlessly light, and all electronics worked. This car is a day project away from being a great original daily driver. It's in amazing shape on the exterior and underneath. The paint still has a decent luster when shined up. There's almost zero surface rust anywhere to be found. The interior is in mostly excellent condition (seats, carpet, headliner) the dash and door trim have some cracking but it's all there. The transmission shifts almost unnoticeable. And the car has no leaks. Do a head gasket and enjoy the last of the big block (real) rear wheel drive Cadillacs. All the other common mechanical issues have been taken care of.Coming with the car is a 1975 Coupe Deville with an excellent running 500CI Cad Motor that is a direct fit replacement for the stock 425 in the 78 car. The 75 does NOT have a title and is severely rotted in places but you can come drive it in the yard so you know the motor is good! Would make a great Hotrod project to put the big 500 in the smaller 78 body!!Call Jack
