The original sales receipt from 1977 is preserved and in-hand along with several repair bills going back to the mid 90s This is a garaged car not a "0" mile museum car, although she is a very impressive head turning "driver" when taken out on the road. Cadillac closed the chapter on the "last of the breed" EldoradoConvertible in 1976, and introduced attractive new styling for the 1977Eldorado Cabriolet w/Astroroof having a Production Total of 467. This would be the final expression of full-sizedpersonal luxury for the Eldorado, as plans were well underway to replaceit with a much smaller Eldorado for 1979. That would allow just two yearsfor lovers of full sized personal luxury to get their orders in beforethis legendary automobile in its original dimensions would be relegatedforever to history.
And if you're going to go, you might as well do it in style, right? Andwhat could be more stylish than driving a legendary Eldorado? The Eldorado'snew styling began up front with an attractive new grille, which emphasizedthe thin vertical bars, which were separated by three horizontal bars,spaced widely apart. A brushed chrome grille header was mounted on thelower edge of the hood, which had a thin chrome molding that ran from endto end which made the car look wider than ever. Eldorado was spelled outin block lettering across the hood, above the brushed header. Dual rectangularheadlights bordered the grille. The forward sections of the front fendersfeatured a raised wing Cadillac emblem as before, but it was now set againsta black background that added new distinction to the front end.
NOTE: This is not considered the Cadillac Eldorado Convertible which ceased production in 1976 This particular body style was produced in 1975 1976 1977 1978. Starting in 1977 Cadillac offered as an option the AstroRoof in the Eldorado that was a SunRoof MoonRoof combination, meaning the car had an interior head panel that when opened revealed a tinted glass roof panel so you could enjoy limited sunshine without burning your head off, as is the problem with just a standard sunroof. Moreover, The motorized tinted glass panel when opened had full open unobstructed sky view and was particularly enjoyable in the evenings when cruising the sunset strip (so-to-speak),..hence the term moon roof or Astro Roof.
