Description
1961 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD, ARIZONA CAR.
An old friend of mine parked this 1961 Fleetwood around 20-30 years ago in Sierra Vista in Southern Arizona. He said that it that time it was a "perfect car". Excellent body, excellent chrome, excellent interior etc.
He was the local old car mechanic and as he was a car lover he ended up buying over 100 old cars over many years.
I bought the Fleetwood from him a few years ago planning on doing a cosmetic restoration and keep it.
At my Classic Car Restoration Shop here in Phoenix (Copperstate Classic Cars) we went through the car and made it running and driving again after the long storage.
We pulled the fuel tank and cleaned it, gave the original engine and transmission a big service, rebuilt the carburetor, rebuilt the brakes, installed new tires, we did cut out a little rust where wet leaves had been sitting and welded in fresh metal.
The Fleetwood is running and driving again now.
It can be used as is but my plan was to paint it and redo the interior next.
The paint is not a disaster, it is dry not not too bad.
The interior on the other hand is very dry.
To use the car without redoing the interior you would have to at least throw blankets over the seats.
The body on the Cadillac is still excellent, the chrome is fantastic, it runs and drives (it has NOT been driven anywhere in several decades except we have driven the Fleetwood a mile or two around our shop).
The Cadillac is sitting in our shop in downtown Phoenix, Arizona where it can be inspected.
The car has never been taken apart or messed with and personally I would much rather do an interior job than fix up a rusted car!
A $1000 deposit is due within 24 hours and the balance within 7 days.
We have exported over 3000 cars since we opened the business in Arizona 33 years ago so export is never a problem.
