Description

Up for sale is our 2011 Chery J11 Wagon

It was bought new and used for roadside mail delivery as a rural postal contractor. That’s why it’s done the better part of 170,000 km.

No longer contracting, and this needs to go as (a) we’ve shut down the company, and (b) we need a ute.

So first up, the bad stuff. I’ll work from front to rear and try not to miss anything.

The passenger side driving light (NOT the headlight) is out where a stone hit it. We were told replacement was around $60.

The drivers side bumper is marked but not dented (Grazed from mailbox posts).

The engine light comes on because the Co2 sensor has failed. The part is a Bosch and goes for around $250. It wasn’t replaced as our mechanic told us it wasn’t urgent, it just meant the computer wouldn’t adjust to the most efficient mode on the freeway.

Brake pads need replacing. There’s nothing technically wrong with the ones in it, but this ones important. The Chery is basically a combination older RAV4 with Corolla running gear. Having said that, the pads from the Corolla that are supposed to fit, don’t. So while they work quite efficiently, as the mechanic said, “they’re going to shake rattle and roll a little.” In short they make a horrible noise occasionally (usually after driving over speed bumps) until you depress the pedal again and they reseat themselves. Point being, get the genuine Chery ones from a dealer.

Last but not least, some a**hole in the Coles carpark in Goulburn hit the back of the car while we were shopping, breaking the plastic driver side bumper (it’s a separate piece of a three piece bumper) and denting the passenger side of the tailgate door by pushing the fog light in. It’s cosmetic everything still works.

Oh, and the transponder keys don’t work because the batteries are flat and they’re a sealed unit. I never bothered chasing replacements. I just lock and unlock it with the key.

Now the good stuff.

In short, the car drives well. Tyres are in good condition, and no play in the steering.

Car has been professionally serviced throughout it’s life at regular service intervals (Jax Tyres and Mechanical at Queanbeyan, then Ang’s Auto Care at Botany)

New battery under 12 months ago.

Air Conditioning works well.

Leather seats with no tears or marks.

Factory cruise control.

Four speaker CD Player with MP3 USB input.

Electric mirrors.

Power windows front and rear with separate child locks for both doors and windows.

Child restraint mounts for all three rear seats.

And all the usual gimmickry like cup holders, sunglass compartment, etc.

Registered till the 26th December so just under four months rego. I’d advise renewing for six months, 26th of June is a MUCH better date.

Grab a genuine bargain on a no reserve auction.

Oh and don’t bother emailing offers, they WILL be deleted and ignored.

Good luck bidding.
