Description
1956 Chevy 4 Door Sport Sedan (4 Door Hardtop)
I got this car with the intent to resto mod the car with modern drivetrain but that just hasn't happened and won't happen anytime soon so I am trying to sell it. I looked specifically for a 4 door hardtop for a long time before I found this one and it absolutely was a barn find - well a shop find. It was in a shop stuck back in the corner with stuff piled on and around it. Finally got the car and had to replace a lot of rubber items but it cleaned up well and drives very good for a survivor car.
This car has less than 40,000 original miles on it and was repainted by the second owner once in the early 1980's I'm told. It has not been restored and is a survivor. I have driven the car on several 2-3 hour trips and have not had any issues with it; however, I do not want to represent the car as anything it's not - it would be a great starting point for a project OR a great car to simply enjoy. I can't stop and fill it up with gas without having a conversation about it with someone.
I have tried to sell it before on here and it sold but the bidder simply failed to uphold his end of the deal (for more than the current "Buy It Now" price). It is currently for sale locally as well so there is a chance it may sell outside of this eBay listing.
So many people have beat this car up because its a 4 door and said the value is next to nothing because of that and so many other people have asked about rust and about the chips in the paint. I can't be more clear - this is a survivor car that is 63 years old now and it has not been restored so it's not a show car in its current form. Also, only about 20,000 of these were built in 210 trim and when you factor in the factory power steering and the factory 4 barrel I'm sure than number drops considerably but I have not tried to chase down that number. There are three small areas on the body - see photos with my hand in them - that might cause some concern to a buyer and I am not attempting to hide them. The floorpan in the front drivers and passengers area will also need some attention - the rest of the floorpan is solid and so is the trunk area and underneath the spare.
It has all the original components still working except the vacuum motor on the windshield wipers - it does not work and should be replaced with an electric motor. I drove the car to show to potential buyer last week and during that drive the power steering pressure line burst and I have not fixed that yet mainly because of the wet weather here.
If you are looking for a solid car to start a project or you want a running car that looks good and drives good while you tinker with it along the way then this might be the car for you. It is very important to me that I represent this car as it truly is and not something that it is not.
Thanks for any interest in this car. I can be reached by email, text, or phone.
