For sale at NO RESERVE: Survivor 1973 K5 Blazer 4x4 in desirable burnt orange color with pearl white interior. Removable full top and factory roll bar, and rare factory A/C. Running driving PROJECT that will need some further sorting for daily use, or a great candidate for full restoration. One family owned from new till 2021, 92k original miles. Purchased new at Frontier Chevrolet in Billings, MT and stayed with the original owner till his passing, then went to his daughter and son in law, who I recently purchased it from. Very correct original save for "day two" headers and mag wheels. Documents include owner card, manual, warranty booklet, recall letter, registrations, etc. Original keys, and still has both original "Power Beam" headlights and the original "Safety-float" windshield in good condition. Does have lower body rust, but this western truck is likely better than you'll find in the salt states. Might be a good choice for a beater hunting cabin or lakehouse 4x4, or plow rig. I'll domy best to describe this K5 Blazer below, please see the Flickralbum with detail pics including undercarriage.
Exterior: Fairly straight with dents in passenger door and rear bumper. Hard to find full top is in good shape with only a couple of small cracks (shown). Glass is good including original windshield. Does have the typical lower body rust where dirt and mud collect and hold moisture - around wheels, rockers, lower doors. We see this corrosion even on trucks here out west - what we don't see is the horrific sitting-at-the-bottom-of-a-lake rot that's so often present on midwest and northeast trucks. The frame and body mounts on this truck look good, as does the windshield frame, cowl, and tailgate. Some corrosion at very back of rear floor where back window leaked. Overall, presentable for a plow rig, hunting 4x4 or mudder/wheeler as is. Again, check the detail pics including underside in the referenced Flickralbum below.
Interior: Original, clean, anddecent. No rodents or smells. Dash was always covered and it's in good shape with a few small cracks in dashpad. Lights, heater, wipers working. Radio is non-op. All the original seat belts are present in good condition. Driver seat upholstery is torn under seat cover. For some reason, spare tire carrier was cut in half, and I don't have the other half. Overall very usable and functional rig.
Mechanical: Starts, runs, and drives. Original 350 four barrel pulls strong with no noticeable smoke, noise, or major leaks. 4x4 works in high and low range. It is a complete, original, solid platform to build on. All the A/C components are there, belt is even still on the compressor. Lights work, heater and wipers work. Blazer was stored for several years, and I drained the gas, put in a new battery, topped off fluids and drove it around the back roads near my house. I haven't gone thru the truck end to end, to be a daily driver it would need belts, hoses, tune up, and tires. While it does run and drive, don't ask if you can fly in and drive it home! As with any older vehicle, it willneed maintenance andrepairs along the way. If you live inastate with very strict vehicle inspections, they will no doubt findsomething for you to fix, so expect that. These trucks are noted forreliability and build quality, and are fairly simple to work on withgood parts availability.
