Description
***This is a 7-day auction, ending Sunday night. I do not have a buy it now listed, but willconsider any serious offers. I reserve the right to end the auctionearly at any time***
For sale at NO RESERVE: Rare 1974 Chevy K5 Blazer original survivor, good running and driving truck that needs a cosmetic restoration. This K5 was owned for many years by an older guy that kept it at his mountain cabin and used it for elk hunting. It's a very original and correct truck with the desirable Cheyenne trim. Sold new at City Chevrolet in Great Falls, Montana. Original jack and tools, manuals, and keys included. Original Safety Flo-lite glass including windshield. VIN numbers all match on frame, door tag, safety certification label, and gloveox SPID tag. Still has factory chalk marks underhood. Period Blazer floor mats and complete set of heavy duty tire chains included, other hunting stuff not included. Use as is for plow truck/hunting rig or take it to the next level with a full restoration. I'll do my best to describe this specialtruck below, please see the FLICKR album with detail pics includingundercarriage.
Exterior: Original Skyline blue paint with sweaty patina. Pretty straight old truck, other than dented right front fender and torn rear bumper. I don't think this truck ever saw salt, however IT DOES HAVE RUST in the usual lower body areas everywhere mud packed in and held moisture. It will need front fenders, rockers, and rear quarters. Doors are fine, which is important, as they are 1973-1975 only. Cowl, firewall, and windshield frame in good condition. Probably a much better K5 than you'll find in the midwest or eastern states, and of course we don't see frame rot here out west. Top is in good condition with a few very small cracks. Glass is all original and good except windshield, which is cracked. Again, check the detail pics including underside in the referenced FLICKRalbum below.
Interior: All original and presentable. Driver seat is ripped under the blanket cover, and dash is cracked under the mat. Console is in good shape. Carpet is worn and faded. Original seat belts are all there. Although some 73-75 Blazers were, this particular K5 was not factory equipped with a roll bar. Most everything works - lights, gauges(except fuel), wipers, radio, parking brake, tilt wheel, horn. Heater works(stuck on defrost), rear window crank isn't working. Rear seat isn't torn, but foam is broken down on one side from heavy burlap bag of tire chains sitting there. Spare tire carrier is gone, if I am able to track it down I will update the auction. Usable K5 as is or take it to the next level.
Mechanical: Starts, runs, and drives out well. 350 engine has been replaced and has no smoke or noises and has great oil pressure - very smooth and strong. This K5 has started every time even at -20 degrees. 4x4 works in high and low range. Needs tailpipes, and also need tires, as they are mix and match radial and bias ply. Most everything works great, except fuel gauge and rear window crank. Truck has a surprisingly tight feel to it, doesn't feel worn out. As with anyolder vehicle, it willneed maintenance andrepairs along the way. If you live inastate with very strict vehicle inspections, they will no doubt andsomething for you to fix, so expect that. These trucks are noted forreliability and build quality, and are fairly simple to work on withgood parts availability.
