Description

1963 Chevrolet C-10. Nice, West Texas pickup purchased from the original owner's widow in 1997. Because this was a nice, original farm truck (see photos included) that was pampered on a farm near Lubbock, Texas, the new owner decided against a frame-off restoration; instead decided to upgrade and enjoy. First off, the factory 6-cylinder engine gave way to a completely rebuilt 350 Chevrolet V8 bolted to the original Powerglide automatic. Rear end was changed to one from a 1968 Chevrolet pickup with 3.08 ratio, front disc brake kit and a new master cylinder improved stopping. Headers, new exhaust system, 15 inch Crager wheels with new tires in 2015. Rear bumper was eliminated and replaced by an LMC roll pan (see photos). The pickup is lowered 2 inches front and back. Original windshield has new rubber seal. Paint is GM Indigo blue with Topaz highlights was applied by American Paint & Body, Lubbock, in 2000. Because the owner always stored in pickup inside covered, the paint has remained as new except for a few bubbles that have begun to appear on lower portion of front fenders and lower door panels. These would not need attention if the buyer wants a driver. Using the original seat, Fisher Trim in Lubbock created the two-tone design of fabric that blends beautifully with the paint. Seat belts were added at that time. Gary Gibbs designed, built, and covered the door panels.
IN 2004, THE TRUCK WAS VOTED ONE OF THE 50 BEST READERS TRUCKS IN CUSTOM CLASSIC TRUCKS MAGAZINE.

Speedometer showed about 65,000 miles in 1997. In the 20 years since, the odometer has not worked but the owner estimates that it has been driven between 15,000 and 20,000. It was trailered to most car shows.
