Description
!969 Camaro, I've owned this car over 25 years and I'm going to be as honest as possible. It's not numbers matching, no build sheet, no protecto plate but the title is clear and the vin matches the body stamp. I believe this car spent it's entire life in Oregon based on the blue and yellow plates, i also think it was sold new in Portland at Ron Tonkin Chevrolet but I have no proof.I think it was and is a real Z28, But matters little since it's not a numbers matching drivetrain. Ill go into that later. The trim tag is dated before they started using the X codes to denote the model. It has power disc front brakes, I ground the calipers smooth and Z28 is engraved on the calipers, painted black and orange, single piston, slotted and drilled rotors and new pads. The rear is drum brakes and they stop with no problems. It has the small brake pedal and disc brake pedal trim package with the clutch pedal still installed but tucked under the carpet. Newer master cyl. and newer brake booster. The front suspension was replaced many years ago but very few miles ago, along with new springs, new shocks and ball joints, etc. The rear end is a corporate 10 bolt open rear end with multi leaf springs, an IROQ Z rear sway bar, and a rare rear diff. cover that I ground smooth, polished and clear coated, 3.08 gear ratio. KYB gas shocks. The gas tank was replaced about 7 yrs ago along with the rear bumper. A new Champion radiator was also installed at that time, Champion radiator is large enough to work with air conditioning I hoped to install later but never did. The turbo 350 transmission was replaced and upgraded about 10 yrs ago with a shift kit and 2500 TCI stall converter. B&M ratchet shifter is working good and the kick down is installed and operates as it should. The engine is a 350, 4 bolt main block, bored 30 over, Keith Black pistons, and polished crankshaft, .010 over on the mains and .010 on the rods, Clevite 77 bearings, High volume melling oil pump, windage tray and brass freeze plugs installed. The cam is a Lunati Bracket Master II, double roller timing chain, cast iron "186" heads with hardened seats, 2.02 valves ported and polished and finished with screw in studs, Crane 1.5 roller rockers, H.D. springs, locks and 64cc chambers for 10 to 1 compression. It runs good on pump gas. The intake is Edelbrock R.P.M, Ignition is a M.S.D. billet Distributor, 6AL multi-spark capacitor, 8MM MSD wires. The Holley Street Avenger 670 C.F.M. carb., and electric choke finish the top while aluma coated full length headers feed 2.5" pipes exiting through flow master mufflers and stainless steel tips right behind the rear axle. The interior needs some work, the dash pad is shot, the headliner is in good shape , the sail panels need some work, the carpet was replaced but it's in bad shape again. The front seats were redone with all new foam buns with more support and black naugahyde, They have seat warmers installed but not wired up. The rear seat is in great shape, door panels are old but not to bad and seat belts are rare ( the only set I've seen like them) The windshield is a few years old and the rest of the windows are old but in fair shape. The wiper motor was replaced and works good. The heater, dash lights and gauges work accurately as does the lighter, the tilt wheel is still tight and works good except for the horn. Now for the option codes; 12437=8cyl. sport coupe. RPO Z87= Custom interior. RPO Z21=Style Trim Group. RPO C06=Vinyl roof (when it was new) RPO C50=rear window defroster. RPO ZL2=cowl induction hood. The stereo is a Pioneer deck, 900 watt 5 channel amp. A single Cerwin Vega 10" speaker in trunk, old MB Quarts front speakers (before they sold out and built garbage) and 2 rear speakers in package tray. The stereo works sometimes. Aftermarket gauges include voltmeter, temp and oil pressure under dash. The wheels are Devino 18x8", rear tires are Nexen 245-40ZR18, front tires are Toyo Proxes 235-40ZR18. The paint and body are in rough shape, the trunk floor needs work as well as the quarter panels or a parcel replacement depending on your skills. The windshield frame, cowl and firewall are in good shape, subframe is good and floor pans are decent, the trunk lid and rear spoiler are bad and the tail light panel is dented from a pole. The fenders are useable and doors are dented but not rotten. The cowl induction hood is in great shape. Inner fenders, core support and grill are all in good shape. The car needs a paint job but it's almost 50 years old.
