MODEL SPOTLIGHT
The fourth-generation Camaro marked the ultimate realization of the old-school GM muscle cars. V8-Power was available, sending power to a solid rear axle, under 2+2 seating in coupe or convertible form. This was the final Camaro to be built on the legendary F-Body Platform. The 4th Gen Camaro prominently featured aggressive, aerodynamic styling that perfectly represented its era, with a long nose, steeply raked windscreen, and smooth tail. Of more note to enthusiasts was the available LT1 (1993-1997) 5.7L V8 engine. A major update in 1998 brought a new front clip with flush mount headlights and the LS1 5.7L V8, which had been introduced to the Corvette the previous year. This robust and reliable powerplant delivered 310HP in 2002 when quipped in Z28 form. With just under 42K units were built for the US in 2002, the final year for Camaro F-Body production, the final F-Body is getting its due. Of that number, only11K were equipped with 6-Speed Manual transmissions, few of which survive in any appreciable condition.
