Description
In the late 1960s, when funny cars were first making their debut at drag strips around the country, I had a vision to build a street legal funny car, this build was initiated in 1971. The glass body, a design mixture of 1970 Camaro/Corvette styling was sourced from Karr Mfg., Monson, Massachusetts, titled and licensed in 1974, currently with 3,000 miles and insured by Grundy Classic Car Insurance.
The powder coated chassis was a 2006 update by Beavans Racing of Poneto, Indiana, with a full roll cage, 15 gallon fuel cell (in a cage), Flaming River IFS, coil overs/ladder bars on the rear with Wilwood discs all around. The Chrysler 8 ¾ axle assembly was built by Mike O'Connell, Newport, Minnesota and has a new Power Loc diff with Moser axles, the car weighs in at 2200 lbs.
The BBC 496” engine was fully machined and assembled by Ron Flood of Cedar Machine Service, North Branch, Minnesota. Gary Loeffelholz of G&S Dyno & Chassis, Shafer, Minnesota, dynoed this engine at 557 HP with 590 Ft Lbs of torque. Matt Ruth of Ruthless Racing, Minneapolis, Minnesota, built the heavy duty TH350 with a reverse valve body, a great street setup. The exhaust zoomies are 2 1/4” SS with Sanderson baffles by Kyle McGraw of 7th Gear Fabrications, River Falls, Minnesota, another set of custom built block hugger headers by Beavans Racing, is included. The intake and carbs are by Pat Ott of The Carburetor Shop, Forest Lake, Minnesota, polishing by Joe Deters Custom Finishing, North Branch, Minnesota.
The fiberglass body is in excellent condition with new paint (2021) by Dan Pearson of Straightline Customs, Burnsville, Minnesota. The interior (seats and side panels) was stitched by Jerry Landgraff in 1973, still in excellent condition, the safety harnesses are by Crow Enterprizes. The body lift assembly is augmented by Bansbach Gas Springs, an easy one man operation.
I built this car when I was 26 years old, I'm now 77, this has been an amazing journey but sadly declining health forces sale, thank you for your interest.
