Description
This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro is resto-mod and pro touring done right. A fantastic look that doesn't cut corners on the original styling, yet delivers a healthy dose of power, comfort, and convenience from updated hardware. This is the real deal matching numbers RS 327.This is not just another hugger orange camaro but is covered in spectacular House of Kolor sunset pearl paint that looks even better in person than in the pictures, even a foot from the car unusual for vintage cars. This is a one foot paint job, not a 5, 10 or 20 foot paint job. It has an incredible glow that makes the car look like a California sunset on four wheels. It's so stunning that the photos just can't do it justice. Great panel alignment, black RS stripes in the paint , and under the clear coat, like they should be, not stuck on, give it the proper dose of attitude and high tech look. Vintage F- body . RS disappearing headlights, blacked out RS front grille, with all the proper badges and 327 emblems giving it the fresh restoration look with a sip from the fountain of youth. Chrome inserts on the hood is a refreshing change from all the cowl induction units at car shows. Nothing has been shaved or deleted, so people will be attracted to this car without even knowing why, although that glowing paint job and great pro-touring stance certainly have a lot to do with it. If you don't like attention then don't get this car. It gets endless thumbs up and "can I take pictures of your car" every time it's driven.
The best resto-mods keep the best original features and this car nails it with black and white upholstered interior with Houndstooth material with bucket seats. Great looking wood grain and chromed steering wheel that's just the right size for easy entry. All factory gauges and original center console with optional gauges and tic-toc-tach, Hurst 5 speed shifter, placard on consoles matches, and no cheesy gauges hanging under the dash. And unlike a vast majority of vintage Camaros it has Upgraded air conditioning that uses R134a refrigerant. Secret sound Am/FM/satellite/ipod dock hidden in the glove box.
The heart of the car is a beautifully finished out (see photos) rebuilt original high revving327 in chevy orange with custom cam shaft, Edelbrock performer RPM intake, headers, chrome air cleaner, aluminum valve covers, and it snarls like no stock Camaro with stainless flowmaster real dual exhaust with chome tail pieces and the headers. rack and pinion steering, pro touring suspension, four wheel disc brakes with matching body color, custom rear suspension, front coil over subframe from Martz and tremec 5 speed feeds a 3.55 gearset that hangs on a custom quadra link rear suspension with Koni coil overs 18-inch Foose overhaulin wheels with matching paint on the lettering and low profile rubber. Modernized cooling system and engine bay wiring (see photos). Beautifully restored and maintained restomod with only 9800 miles on the restoration.. so this extremely high quality matching numbers small block 327 rally sport Camaro is ready to rock. This car has trophied more than once in car shows including the Spring Nationals in the past year (see trophy in photo) and been used in photo shoots(see photo). Here's your chance to enjoy all the fun without the wait.
Additional information, this Camaro has the upgraded L30 327 with 10 to 1 compression which gives it 30% more horsepower than the base LF7 that was also offered in 1968. In 1968 Chevrolet rated the L30 327 at 275hp and 355 foot-pounds torque. When the restoration was done and the original engine was rebuilt a high performance cam, headers and dual exhaust were added, giving it more horsepower over stock, but I've never had the hp measured. Of interest the Z28s at the time were only 302s so they could meet the smaller engine requirement of the Trans Am racing series they competed in the hype of the Z28 was it was the Camaro raced in the series, even though it had a smaller engine than the 327 and smaller hp than the majority of the Camaros sold in 1968.
I purchased this Camaro for $36,500.00 almost 3 years ago (bill of sale available to winning bidder ) and in addition I have receipts and documentation for almost $14,000.00 I spent on this Camaro since I've owned it to make it a better overall car as far as performance, drivability, reliability and looks. It's placed in every car show it's been entered in(trophies, plaques available to winning bidder). When not driven on the weekends it's stored on a lift in my personal garage in Dallas. The car has been maintained by HCC performance in Dallas, Tx (documentation available to winning bidder). Lastly if you're offended in anyway by beautiful women in swim suits with awesome cars and guitars, do not view the last photo, taken from a photo shoot this Camaro was used in.
