Description

Listed for sale is a 1971 Chevrolet Camaro "Real Deal" Z28/RS, the rarest of Camaros. In 1971 there was only 4862 cars produced. Unfortunately they did not keep track of numbers with the Z28/RS package together, but you can only assume that there was half the Z28's equipped with the RS package and possibly maybe a quarter have survived. This model equipped with the Z28 and RS package combined with the factory 4 speed M22 and the factory 4.10 gears in one of the rarest Camaros of this year. The Z28 equipped with the LT1 350 small block engine was the highest horsepower option engine you could purchase in a Camaro, even more then the 396 big block. Also with the Z28 you received the, track ready, Z28 upgraded suspension. This is not a numbers matching LT1 350 but it is the correct year engine. Complete Restoration of vehicle was completed in 2007. The car has the LT1 350 that was included with the Z28 package. Also optioned with this car from factory is the Rally Sport package that includes the ever so popular split bumpers. Its also has the 4 speed M22 Rock Crusher Muncie transmission, along with a 10 bolt rear end. This car operates great and body is in great shape, have never had any issues with it. Car was entered into car shows prior to myself owning it. Cowl Tag: ST 71 12487NOR1470, TR 775, 43 43, 02 C, Z28 19. Body/Exterior-Car had a full restoration completed in 2007 and was entered into car shows prior to myself owning it. Very minimal body filler was used and new rear quarter panels were installed. Car has the Rally Sport package from factory and has the correct urethane nose, round parking lights, split grill, and split bumper bumperettes, that make the RS package so desirable! The trunk has the correct trunk inlay matt and factory spare and jack. In the trunk also is the custom fiber glass subwoofer enclosure with amplifiers attached to it. Paint is not original paint color which was the lime green with black stripes, as indicated on the trim tag. Car is now a forest green with white stripes. Paint not be a 10 but its a solid 8.5. due to the odd little chip here or there. All correct emblems and decals were placed on car in their correct locations. Car is equipped with the Z28 smaller one piece rear spoiler and the front air dam. The factory Z28 rims are in excellent shape wrapped in BF Goodrich TA tires. Mechanical-All new weather striping was installed on car, new brake booster, new power steering, all new bushings, new radiator, all new wiring, new brakes all around, new suspension all around, and new fuel tank. Everything on car was either rebuilt or replaced with new OEM parts. Engine-Even though the LT1 350 small block had a smaller displacement that was offered in the SS package equipped with the 396 big block, the high revving race orientated small block had more available horsepower. The motor has slight modifications done to it. Motor is equipped with roller rockers, headers, accell ignition and wires, 750 holley carburetor, light cam, and 10:1 pistons. Its dressed up with chrome valve covers, air cleaner, and high amp alternator (to power aftermarket stereo). Factory horsepower ratings on 1971 LT1 350 is 330hp but dyno'd at 383hp right off the show room floor. With the added performance motor parts I can only assume the horse power rating would be around 425hp. Transmission-the car is equipped with the Muncie M22 "Rock Crusher" 4spd, arguable one of the best 4 speeds. Also included is the Hurst shifter. Rear End-Original 10-bolt rear end. I changed the 4.10 posi gears out for 3.42 posi gears, a much better all around gear for a 4 spd. 4.10 gears there was no need for 1st gear. With the 3.42 gears the car is much more comfortable to drive and better on fuel, but still has plenty enough power to get up and go. Interior-Car is equipped with the standard black newly apolstered seats and black vinyl door panels, console, dash, kick panels, and new headliner. New black carpet flooring and new z28 floor mats. Original factory z28 gauge cluster and all gauges work. Original factory radio is still in it place, but I also installed a new aftermarket stereo with a Kenwood head unit, Boston Acoustic 5.5" component door speakers mounted in custom fiberglass door armrest , Boston Acoustic 6x9 two way rear speakers, and a Boston Acoustic 12' Subwoofer in a custom fiberglass enclosure placed in the trunk. Speakers are powered by a 4x75 watt Boston Acoustic amplifier and the sub is powered by a mono 250 watt Boston Acoustic amplifier. Car has original steering wheel in excellent shape with no cracks. the only thing that doesn't work on the entire car is the clock!
