Description

This 1969 Camaro has had a unique history that has travelled through 6 owners (1 of them that owned it twice!), two countries, and 4 States so far in its life.
Born in the 3rd week of April, the car spent most of its life being a Sunday driver and occasional drag car, hence the low miles. According to the prior owners recollections, and those of Legendary Street Rod and Muscle Car specialist Brian, from Spud's Garage, the original motor was either blown, traded, swapped, or stolen, resulting in the installation of a 454CI Big Block that was stroked to 468 and mated to a 700R4 automatic sometime in the 80's. The 3rd & 5th owner of the car did a documented refresh of the vehicles appearance and mechanics in 2010 that is detailed in an extremely well-organized and laid out portfolio totaling over $25,000.
The car found it's 6th owner in Florida, and he purchased it with 18,519 miles showing on the odometer and corresponding actual mileage title from Arizona. Regrettably, the Florida DMV elected to mark the new Florida title as EXEMPT for mileage. All prior parties have been involved in the cars life and are still alive, have each stated that the miles are correct and actual, but it now has an EXEMPT Florida title.
The 6th owner wanted it to me closer to the original spec, so he reached out to Greg Long (Mr. GM) to have a restamped DZ302 engine built for the car, including a mild cam, upgraded carb, intake, ignition system, and more. The BLOCK CASTING is 3956618, The pad is stamped V0403DZ, and is a fantastic running motor gives you the legendary performance and feel the car was originally built with. With the 700r4 removed, an era-correct Muncie 4-speed was selected and installed, along with a Vintage HURST shifter that even came with the original warranty card and instructions!
The cowl tag decodes as follows:
TR 712 -BLACK CUSTOM BUCKET SEATS
10-B - TUXEDO BLACK PAINT / BLACK VINYL TOP
043 - APRIL 3RD WEEK OF PRODUCTION
X77 - Z28
The Tuxedo Black finish is exceptionally nice, and shows no bubbling, damage, disrepair, or issues. It is glossy, shiny, and clean, and you can run a 3x3 inch felt magnet over the car and it sticks like glue. Looking at the body, it shows zero signs of being cut, panel replacement, patching, or anything else. It is quite possibly one of the top 10 cleanest and straightest bodies I have seen in all the years doing this. White stripes look amazing, and the vinyl top is remarkably nice and shows no flaws or issues.
Chrome and exterior trim and badging are exceptional, and the glass is in fantastic condition as well, with no cracks, chips, or laminate issues. All of the rubber is in great shape, and shows to be soft and pliable. The car rides on upgraded Rallye wheels with modern radial tires, allowing for it be driven by anyone in the family without issue.
Inside, the interior is stunning, and the only nods from its non-stock appearance are the audio system and the Vintage Air Conditioning control panel. Everything shows factory correct, and all of the switches, gauges, and functional items in the car work as they should. Headliner, kick panels, side panels, dash and carpeting all look fantastic, and all of the interior trim parts look great too.
Floor pans are clean and clearly visible, and the only alterations were the slightly larger diameter cut-away from the prior 700r4, and marks the removal of the mounts that were installed for the same.
All of the lights, horn, electrical items work like they should, and the car is a blast to drive. The V8 is quite powerful, and when matched to the 4.10 gears in the factory correct 12-bolt POSI rear end, it lets you row the 4 speed through the gears like a madman! The car has been driven a scant 99 miles since purchased and retrofit with the 302. It has been in an indoor climate controlled collection since then, and has been started regularly and had the battery disconnected while not being run. Fuel treatment has been utilized, and it starts up and idles exceptionally well, and has plenty of power without any hiccups when driving. The custom aluminum radiator from Griffin was left in place to keep the car cool with the A/C on, and it runs cool, even at idle with air blowing in the Florida heat.
It is an exceptionally nice, extremely clean, and honestly presented Z28, and we encourage questions, and appointments to see the car in person.  Call J.J. today at 941-286-0889  ***SEE 200 PHOTOS AT inventory/chevrolet/camaro-z28-coupe/c3505/
