1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396

1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396- Restored as a Resto Mod utilizing a slightly better then stock built 396, and a 5 speed TKO 600 Tremec Transmission. The current owner (John) purchased the car from his cigar dealer. The Chevelle came to the current owner as a clean Arizona rust free car. It was in need of am major refurbishment. John elected to build this legitimate 138 SS396 Chevelle into a solid, quick, and dependable resto-mod. The build, and condition are detailed below. Body and Paint: What started out a rust free Arizona car has been refinished by Bobs Custom Paint in Glendale. The paint shows very well. I find minor flaws in the jams, and panel edges. The gaps are excellent as are the floors and trunk. Glass is all new.
Motor / Transmission: The motor starts and runs perfectly hot and cold. Does not over heat. Strong, flat power band producing torque at the drop of the throttle in any gear. Fresh Built 396 (20 over) balanced and blue printed motor built by Chucks Speed Center in Phoenix. Dyno results in 370 horsepower . Vintage Front Runner Serpentine Belt system including all of the accessories. I do not believe the block is the original born with block. The transmission is Tremec high Horsepower TKO600 5 speed with the hydraulic clutch kit.
Suspension: Tight suspension with adjustable ride height as well as stiffness. Moser 12 bolt rear end with 4 wheel power disk brakes. Global west lower and upper control arms. QA1 adjustable coil over shocks on all four corners.
Interior: Stock appearing seats are done in soft leather. Tilt wheel for comfort. Alpine sound system integrated in to the interior.
Driving and Running: We drove around for a good test drive, and this car runs great. Power is instant. Air conditioning and heat work perfectly. Brake, and clutch feel correct. As the add says this car was built to be driven. Could be depended as a daily driver if you would like. The cost of the build exceeds the desired sales price by 10's of thousands of dollars.
