Description
Up for auction here today is a 1967
Malibu Chevelle project car. This is NOT
a SS variant, but a two-door, 5-passenger, sport coupe. According to the body plate, this was a
powerglide transmission car, so you will not find a clutch pedal for a manual
shifter (although you can make it such).
Car has power steering, but manual drum brakes all around. Missing some of the front grill. Glass is decent all around the car, but
windshield is broken. It is not rotted out
at the back windows, but it does show signs of rust and questionable body work
on the quarters. For my taste, it needs
new quarters and front fenders while you’re at it. Doors are good; they open and close nicely
too. All window elevators function
except for the rear seat on the driver’s side.
It will need a trunk pan (or partial pan), plus some minor floor
work. The frame is dirty, dirty. Rear end is a 10-bolt variant and all
there. One piece of the frame shows dent/hole damage. Structurally, however, the rest of it appears sound. Dashboard is in good, good shape and it is
removed but included. Also included is
the heater core and heater core housings for inside and outside the main
cab. Hood and trunk close nicely. 15” hard-to-find Weld wheels on the car are
included and all tires hold air for an extended amount of time (weeks); tires
have seen better days but good for moving around the shop. Car has a killer stance as it sits. Both front and rear bench seats are included
and are definitely in good shape (needs upholstery of course). Turns and steers just fine. Brakes were working on it, but the front
passenger cylinder sprung a leak. I
believe the parking brake works, but I didn’t step on it too hard ever, since I
didn’t want to break it. This is a 1967
Chevelle, very hard to find.
Car does have a Kansas title. I got it from a guy who bought it from a guy that bought it from the original owner. It no longer has the VIN plate on the door sill. VIN 136177G116829, title dated 8/14/1984, empty weight 3115 (according to the title).
This car is in pretty good shape, not the best shape to find these cars in, but the important thing is that you or a restoration shop will have no issues with it since parts are readily available. Also, all the essential parts like dash, window regulators, some trim, etc are all in the car, so you won’t have to spend time figuring out how to assemble it. Gas tank is there (needs a boil), but no radiator. It appears that the original steering wheel on the car. The car is not in a box of parts, it’s all put together for the disassembly process.
I can deliver this car for $1.25 per loaded mile (one way), up to 300 or so miles from El Paso, TX. This can also work if you’re coming for it and want to save about 600 miles of back and forth driving to El Paso (we can meet somewhere). So, for example, delivery to Tucson (about 300 miles) would be $375, in addition to the final bid price of the car. I can go in any direction on a weekend, but in no direction during the week (since I work).
I do NOT have a reserve on the car, but a low starting bid. Highest bid wins this car. These cars are hard to find, especially starter cars like this one. It truly deserves to be restored and loved by a car guy. I wish it was a big-block SS, but it is not a four-door or a sedan (that’s the good news). Needs some definite love, but it will not disappoint. Please view the pictures carefully. I can answer questions or take more photos if you desire. I do require a non-refundable deposit (you win, it's yours), see below for more details.
