1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport Yenko Convertible Super Car Doesn't every red blooded American man or woman want a bright shiny red 1969 Chevelle Convertible? 1969 was the start of the pinnacle in the Muscle Car era, and a True Red 1969 Chevelle droptop is one of the most highly sought after muscle cars on the planet. They surely don't come around too often. In fact I would pretty much believe it's safe to say that the majority of the people out there have not seen or will ever see a car like this again for the rest of their lives. I purchased this sweet original factory red Chevelle from a gentleman in East Long Island New York back in 2005. This was his high school car, and his mother needed her garage cleared when I got the call. He was kind enough to let me have it. This car was originally ordered from the factory as a triple red Chevelle convertible. Yes, I do know they never made a Yenko Convertible. I'm fairly certain Yenko Chevelle's, Camaro's, and Nova's were all hardtops. The vision in this auction is simply a car I envisioned when I first saw a red Yenko Chevelle hardtop. I tried to make this model look exactly like what one would have looked like if Don Yenko had made one in a convertible. I tried to place all the factory Chevrolet Chevelle decals that came on a Yenko in the correct positions, and there are new Yenko emblems throughout the car. I will explain everything I know about the car, and everything that was done to it. This Chevy had a running and driving 350, but was not numbers matching, so a Big Block 427 is an awesome upgrade. It was stored on a finished concrete floor in a heated garage until I made the trip to New York to bring it back to Wisconsin. This Chevelle was last given an inspection in New York that expired on August 16th, 1995 from what I witnessed on a windshield decal that was on this car when I made the purchase. Therefore, it has not been licensed for the last 20 years. As soon as I got the Chevelle back in town it went right to my mechanics shop. The owner is one of my closest buddies and was born with a wrench in his hand. He has been doing transmissions for over 40 years, and owned the shop where the turbo hydromatic was completely rebuilt. Then all of the front and rear brakes were completely replaced including all four wheel cylinders. The search for the proper 427 started nearly a decade ago. I finally found one that had been sitting on a shelf for the last 20 years in the midst of an elderly gentleman's parts who was liquidating his muscle car empire in a small town in between Sheboyagan and Manitowoc, Wisconsin. This Big Block 427 engine was freshly rebuilt from top to bottom, and the carburetor was just rebuilt last month when the engine was installed. The carburetor is a Holley 800 Double Pumper with all new fuel lines, and a new fuel pump. There is a new air cleaner and new PCV valve. There are new intake manifold gaskets, new exhaust manifold gaskets, new valve cover gaskets, and a new water pump with new gaskets. I've never seen a drop of anything under this car. There is a new 4-core radiator for maximum cooling with new upper and lower radiator hoses. There is all new anti-freeze, and the engine has a fresh oil change with a new oil filter. Needless to say, this engine will need to be broken in like a brand new car, so the new owner will need to have a light foot for the first 500 miles. There is a new temperature sending unit, and a new oil pressure switch. The engine was nicely detailed before it was put in place with new Big Block motor mounts. There are brand new wipers with a new washer fluid container. This Big Block 427 has new spark plugs, and new Accel Hi-Temp Super Stock Spiral Core 8mm high performance wires for maximum spark. This engine has electronic ignition for easy starting. It fires right up and sounds awesome with upgraded 2 1/2" inch pipes with the H-pipe for maximum exhaust flow. It really does sound incredible with dual flowmasters, and the correct 1969 chrome exhaust tips. The body was in really good condition considering the age of this Chevelle. Although it did need a small patch on the drivers floor, and the passenger floor has an even smaller patch. The rest of the floors are in very good original condition. The original trunk floor is amazingly solid, and the frame is in really nice shape. I believe the reason the undercarriage held up so well was due to the way this car was always garage kept for all those years, and it looks to have been factory undercoated. The front grille was replaced with a brand new grille and a new blue Chevy Bow-Tie emblem. The rear wheel well lips were the only spots on the body that I felt needed replacement to make this car right. A full set of rear quarter panel replacements were purchased from Dearborn Classics, and placed on this car. The rear tail panel was replaced with a brand new panel, and brand new trim. The hood is a genuine GM steel framed cowl hood not a fiberglass replacement. There is brand new hood insulation under the hood specifically made for the cowl hood. The chrome vents on the hood were re-chromed. The body was painted last fall in three coats of basecoat followed by four coats of very expensive Dupont clear coat. It was wet sanded at three different levels of 1000, 1500, and 2500 grit, and then buffed to bring out the mirror shine as evident by the pictures. This body is virtually laser straight. I've been told by everyone who sees this car, that the paint work on this convertible looks spectacular. There will be endless compliments coming to whoever is the lucky winner of this rare classic. It was very hard to keep people away while I was just trying to shoot the pictures. There are brand new front and rear bumpers, and a brand new set of four wheel opening moldings. There are a brand new pair of chrome outside door handles and door locks on the doors with a new trunk lock in the trunk lid. The firewall access vents and the hood stops along with the hood grommets are brand new. The doors have new rubber gaskets, and a pair of brand new chrome sport mirrors. There is a new chrome adjustable antenna in the right front fender connected to the nicely working factory Chevelle AM radio. Two new 6.5" inch speakers are mounted under the dash. The dash pad is brand new along with a brand new dash panel that houses a new convertible top switch. I had a new white convertible top with new padding, and a new back glass window with a new well liner installed about four years ago, and the top has only been put up and down a handful of times. The top motor and hydraulic lines were recently bled and the top goes up and down very well. A white convertible top boot will be included in the trunk with this sale. The black carpeting is new with the extra padding, and a set of four new black carpeted floor mats sit on top of the new carpet. This Chevelle is steered with a tilt wheel, and has bucket seats with a console and the cool horseshoe shifter. The shifter plate showing the gears is new. The interior door panels are new Pearlescent panels with new chrome interior door handles, and a set of four new window cranks roll all four windows up and down nicely. There is a 1969 Chevelle owner's manual in the glove compartment, so the new owner can read up on their new purchase. The entire interior appears in really nice condition as shown in the pictures. This Yenko lookalike sits on a full set of four expensive Firestone F70-14 inch Sup-R-Belt Super Sports Wide Oval polyester red line tires mounted on Chevrolet Sport wheels with all four bolt on center caps, and all four beauty trim rings. After the trunk was coated with GM A/C Delco black and aqua spatter spray to make it appear factory correct, a brand new 1969 Chevelle aftermarket trunk mat was placed on top of the trunk floor. There is a nicely detailed original 1969 Chevelle jack, jack stand, and crow bar with a full size Firestone redline spare tire. The jack bumper mount actually has 1969 Chevelle stamped on the curved portion. This way if there is ever a mishap on the road you know you have the proper jack and you can be back on the road in minutes looking complete. I placed the registration in my name in 2011. This car is being sold with an open, clean, and clear Wisconsin title. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide that anyone can look up on-line has the 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Yenko Hardtop with a 427/435 horsepower engine valued at $379,050 in high condition, which they consider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. $156,625 in average condition, which they consider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a 20-Footer! They have the lowest condition value at $112,875 being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration, but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car. These Chevelle convertibles have consistently shown to escalate in value with each quarter. Why not drive the same looking car except in a convertible with the top down for a mere fraction of those prices. Whether you had one as a youth and would like to recapture that glory or you just want to drive around and enjoy your bank account while your investment grows, this may be the droptop you've been dreaming of. Everywhere you drive these cars people are attracted to them like a magnet. These cars are getting harder and harder to come across. This is a prime opportunity to own a piece of muscle car history at a fraction of that price. A huge amount of time, money, and effort went into preparing the car you see listed in this description. What you see is exactly what you get! I tried to describe all of the pertinent information, so any potential bidder can make the most informed decision possible before placing their bid. I am a brutally honest person, so if there is anything else you feel I may have missed, please ask me any question you like. I pride myself in answering every question in explicit detail with the utmost honesty. This cool All-American classic muscle car convertible is being offered at "No Reserve" on a quick 3-day auction ending Sunday evening at 8:00pm Eastern time, 7:00pm Central time, and 5:00pm Pacific time. Please make sure you have all of your funds in order prior to placing your bids. The PayPal deposit needs to be paid within 24 hours, and the balance within 72 hours.
