FOR SALE:
1971 Chevelle SS - LS5
True Super Sport "SS"
LS5 Performance package
454 4 bbl
3 Speed TH400 transmission
Cowl induction
12 bolt rear; with 3.31 ratio
Power steering, power disc brakes
Buckets/console
This Chevelle was originally Burnt Orange in colour, with a black vinyl roof and black SS stripes My understanding is that this is a rather rare combination. It was last registered in 1984. It has been in dry, indoor storage ever since and within that time period, spent over 20 years parked in a semi-trailer container.
As you can see in the photo's, the indoor storage has treated this car very well!
The floors, trunk, wheelwells, rockers and frame are SOLID.
There is the usual surface rust present on the undercarriage, however I have not been able to find ANY real rust (rust through/holes) on the entire floor, frame etc. The trunk specifically is in excellent shape, including the wheelwells and rear quarters.
On the driver's side floor, there is a narrow hole behind the seat riser, approximately 1 inch in length. It is very solid all around, leading me to believe that an object may have penetrated the floor a long time ago, as it does not look like a rust hole, and the area surrounding it is very solid. As you may be able to see in the pictures, a thin strip of aluminum was placed over the hole, and fastened down with a sheet metal screw to cover it up. The interior/floor photo's show a lot of original orange paint not surface rust!
The driver's rear quarter panel has a VERY small hole (maybe 1/8th") right at mid-arch of rust. The area surrounding this however, appears solid.
The passenger door has a dent (as I'm sure you can see in the photo's). But otherwise, the metal is in great shape.
The passenger fender on the other hand, has rust at the very bottom, behind the wheel opening. In all honesty, this fender is probably the worst part of the car, which says a lot.
The interior will need full upholstery. The rear seat and backrest are in pretty decent shape, with no holes and minimal wear. The buckets however, show many years of use, and definitely need new covers. The dash is in very nice shape, however the AM radio has been removed. All original interior panels are there, including door panels and console.
The grille and headlight buckets/assemblies are in great shape, with no cracks/chips.
All glass is there and in good condition. No cracks or chips.
Unfortunately, the oringinal motor is M.I.A. The car is still equipped with the factory 3 speed TH400 transmission, 12 bolt rear end, and driveshaft.
Yes, the cowl-induction hood is original, however the majority of the fuction mechanisms are gone.
The original SS rims come with the car, and as you can see in the photos, need refinishing.
The chrome trim has been removed, however most I assume is still useable. The majority of which would need to be refinished for show quality.
Comes with everything pictured as well as radiator, flywheel, new Moroso valve covers etc etc etc (everything pictured as well as additional)
All in all don't get me wrong, this vehicle requires a full restoration. However, due to so many years in storage, it is VERY well preserved. It would make a very easy project for the right person, and requires close to zero rust repair. I have attached a photo of the build sheet to further break down any missed options. This was provided to us in 1991 directly from GM Canada.
Car still has original owner's manual in the glovebox!
I purchased this car only a few short years ago, with intentions of restoring it back to original. Due to unfortunate life changes however, I cannot see myself finishing the project and it deserves to get back on the road!!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or additional info. Yes this is my first Ebay sale but I'll gladly provide phone number for serious enquiries!
