For sale at NO RESERVE:Survivor 1976 Chevy K20 4x4 project truck, one family owned from 1976-2021. Well equipped with power steering, power disc brakes, tilt wheel, tow hooks, bumper guards, etc. Rare optional factory cab lights and wood bed. Purchased new in Feb '76 at Anderson Chevrolet in Helena, Montana by a former co-worker of mine. He was a fussy engineer and meticulous with it's care. When he passed in 2012 it went to his son, who drove it several years, then started replacing the tired original engine. He's a great guy, but life and work got busy and the job was never completed. There are $2600 worth of receipts for work already done, the long block is sitting in place and needs distributor, plug wires, carb, and radiator hooked up(all included). This truck has the most complete set oforiginal documents I've seen. Includes owner card, manual, warranty booklet, dealer inspection, original purchase contract, detailed log book, maintenance schedule, registrations, etc. Original keys, original jack and tools, and original under-bed spare tire carrier. Currently running 16" wheels with good 10 ply traction radials, original 16.5" wheels included along with the original hubcaps in good condition. Truck is full-time 4wd. Keep in mind that the transport cost may be higher due to the fact that it's not running/driving.
Exterior: Original Yuba Gold and Frost White paint still shines and presents well from 20 feet. Overall a straight survivor with no major body damage. The rare wood bed floor is intact. I don't believe this truck has ever seen salt, but DOES HAVE SOME LOWER BODY RUST where mud accumulated and held moisture. Take a look at all the detail pics in the linked FLICKR album below. Fortunately, we don't see the horrific sitting-at-the-bottom-of-a-lakerot that's so often present on midwest and northeast trucks. The frame on this truck looks good, as does the windshield area, cowl, and tailgate. Chrome is bright with no pitting, glass is good except windshield, which is cracked. It's a just a nice stock original truck.
Interior: Original and presentable, no rodents or smells. Seat has tears under the blanket cover, dash has cracks as shown. The radio faceplate is missing, but the original owner's son is searching for it and if he finds it by the time the truck ships out, it will be included. Door panels are faded and need to be restored, vinyl products like SEM color coat work well. Overall it's a decent original survivor to use as is or take to the next level.
Mechanical: As stated, original engine was tired and a used long block was purchased and subsequently installed. Apparently, the used engine didn't perform as expected, and the truck went to a different shop for it to be pulled and refreshed, but I don't have the second shop's receipts detailing exactly what was done the second time. The engine hasn't been fired since that refresh. Special break-in oil with zinc is included. Transmission was replaced with a reman unit at 118k miles(33k miles ago). Ignition lock cylinder was replaced(per receipts), but it must be a tooth off as I can't get key to go all the way to the start position. I whirled the engine over with a remote switch as shown in video. While I will provide copies of all the receipts for all work done, I can't guarantee anything about the truck and it is sold AS IS. It appears that most everything needed to get the truck on the road again is there and included. Truck hasn't ran for several years, but fuel stabilizer was used and fuel does not smell soured. As with anyolder vehicle, it willneed maintenance andrepairs along the way. If you live inastate with very strict vehicle inspections, they will no doubt andsomething for you to fix, so expect that. These trucks are noted forreliability and build quality, and are fairly simple to work on withgood parts availability.
