Description

Here is my 1962 Corvair Monza 900 Convertible, which is being relisted due to a non-paying buyer. The car has a new paint job with a matching red, leather-like vinyl interior.
For 1962, Chevrolet replaced the Lakewood station wagon on the Wixom production line with this convertible as the wagon was a slow seller and people clamored for a topless car. The Monza was upgraded with a premium interior, very high line carpeting and other interior and exterior features.
This car has what passed for the high-performance engine in those days, and it still gets around very well as it weighs so little. The engine allows it to keep up with modern traffic and gets amazing gas mileage. It has the two-speed PowerGlide transmission, which was reduced in size to fit the Corvair and is considered bullet-proof. It shifts very well and the car drives smoothly and quietly, as it was designed to do. This car was garage kept and driven lightly, so I rebuilt the carbs, cleaned the fuel system and tuned it up.
The car has a good white top, which only needs a new rear window. It is a Colorado car and has NO RUST that I can find, which is very unusual for Corvairs. Even the battery box is clean and dry with no holes. This car runs and drives very well and could be driven"As-Is." I can't think of what it needs, except for a new dash cover and plastic rear window. The interior is in very good condition due to the use of premium materials when the car was new. Everything works on the car, even the AM radio and the lights. It has a manual top, as most of them did -- which is very easy to use. It still has its original top cover for use when the top is lowered.
I will accept personal or cashier's checks, but they must firmly clear before shipment. The car is in covered, climate controlled storage, and there is no hurry for you to remove it after payment clears while you arrange shipping.
As usual, this is a used car but it's a very nice car and I would tell you if I knew of any shortcomings on it other than the rear window and the cracked dash. Clark's Corvairs has them in stock and any top shop can fit a new one inexpensively.
Nice car -- Rare and hard to find in a convertible body style and NO RUST. Remember, you are buying a 60's Chevrolet convertible. They do not depreciate and when the top goes down, the price goes up. This car is a solid investment for both driving pleasure and future earnings. There are comparable cars selling on eBay right now for thousands of $$ more.
It shows 27,000 miles which the previous owner assured me is original. It is sold "miles exempt" because of age. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, of course. Car is sold as-is without warranty.
