Description

1965 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Convertible

The vehicle retains all original sheet metal, and the mileage is original to the vehicle. The vehicle has been repainted, though the age of the repaint is unknown. Evidence of a repaint is present in the wheel openings, hood and trunk weatherstrips, and on the RF fender above the headlamp bezel. Some minimal bubbling is present near the wheel opening moldings on each wheel area. There is a scratch through the paint on the drivers side, on the LR quarter panel and drivers door. Both doors shut very well for the age of the vehicle. The convertible top was replaced last year, and was very well done with appearance and fitment. Photos show all of the imperfections in the exterior.
All exterior trim appears to be original to the vehicle, and is in excellent condition for the age of the vehicle. The front bumper is in good condition, free of any dents or damage, though the finish is scratched. Both rocker panel moldings are in good condition, though the finish is scuffed from passengers entering and exiting the vehicle. The rear bumper is in good condition, and would show very well with minimal detailing. Both fender emblems are in place and also in good condition for the age of the vehicle.
The vehicle still retains the entire original interior, which is in excellent shape for the age of the vehicle. Both front seats are free of any rips or tears in the material. The carpet is worn behind the front seats, where rear passengers would place their feet, however the carpet is not extremely faded or damaged. The dash pad is also in excellent condition, free of any cracks or sun damage. Both interior door panels are in good condition and free of any wear or damage. The original AM radio is still in the vehicle, however it is inoperable.
The engine is the original 2,683cc (2.7L) Flat-6 air cooled engine. The original components include a point ignition system and dual carburetors. The engine compartment is located in the rear of the vehicle. The engine compartment is dirty/dusty from 50 years of vehicle use. The battery is located between the LR frame rail and quarter panel, but the correct hold down/mounting hardware is missing. Both the body tag and VIN tag are located in the correct spots and very legible. The spare tire is also mounted in the correct location, above the engine on the passenger side.
The wheels are the correct, stock 13 inch steel wheels with full size hubcaps. The tires on the vehicle are brand new. The spare tire that is located in the engine compartment is a replacement radial tire.
The trunk area is clean, though some surface rust scale is becoming present through the original spatter paint. The vehicle is equipped with the original single bore master cylinder (manual brakes) system. The washer solvent container is present, along with the bracket for storing the original GM Optikleen glass bottle for refilling your washer solvent.
All lights, turn signals, hazard flashers, horn, seat belts, etc. work properly. This is a very well preserved, 53 year old automobile that is showing age in certain areas. In the last three years, the following repairs have been performed to this vehicle:
Valve Cover Gaskets
Timing Cover Gasket
Oil Pan Gasket
Oil Cooler Seals
Exhaust Manifold Gasket (passenger side) and Studs
Valve Adjustment
