Description
Well last month we had a red convertible we sold on Ebay. Really nice car, but if you really want a rare car, I have one of those for sale.
1969 Corvair for sale to the lucky bidder.
Wepurchased this car in 2006. It was sold new and spent it's time in West Idaho. The woman who first purchased this car traded her 1960 Corvairfor it. She went to the dealership and they said they were no longermade but that they had one left over. It was in the back of the lot atthe Chevy dealership, and she bought it. She passed on and her son keptthe car in his large garage next to his Collector cars.. He drove itevery once in a while. But kept it in memory of her. He finally decidedto sell and we bought it.
She was an odd bird, painted white with greencloth interior. A cheep 500 with 110 HP motor, automatic transmission, radio and of all things deluxe seat belts for 6 and shoulder belts. Theson said they they have never been out of the ceiling holders. The caris a 1969 500 with 12,799 original miles on it. When we purchased it,the odometer read 10,854. These are original miles. I know because Itook the car apart and painted it black. I really liked the car, butputting, miles on it, I hated to do it because it was such a low mileagecar.
Here are the things that have been done to it. Striped to bare metal and painted, base coat/clear coat,
inTuxedo Black. The rear end is painted 1966 Corvette silver poly bc/cc/Prettier color than argent silver. Added roof drip rail chrome, rocker, wheel well and rear end (cove molding) trim.
Theinterior is all original. Now you can argue all you want that is notoriginal because of the cloth seats. The son explained to me that he norhis mother ever changed a thing in the interior. He says that is theway it was since brand new. The vin number on this car is #5649 of 6000.The seats could be from a Nova but not sure. I'm not an expert onNova's. I added courtesy lights, trunk and engine lights. The car won 1stplace 69 closed at the 2009 Jacksonville, Fl Corsa Convention. Officialconcourse judges. The car scored a 94.89 which was GOLD. Most pointswere taken off the underside because it was left original. Since then ithas been painted. All plaques and judging papers come with the caralong with the original Title from Idaho. The spare tire is the originaltrunk spare tire.
Norust now or ever. Car had at least a dozen dents from the inside-out.Due to poor workmanship. Body now straight as an arrow. Replacedoriginal front windshield because of clouding in bottom. Corners. Trunkhas been splatter painted and clear coated with same clear coat as restof car.
Enginecompartment was completed the same way. Most engine parts have beenpainted and clear coated. Brake fluid has been changed to siliconefluid. The steering wheel has been been changed to Monza and base coat /clear coat.
Thewheels have been changed to real knock off wire wheels with spinners.Spokes are green and chrome. Two green for every 1 chrome wires. So thegreen would show up better. Single exhaust has been changed to dual. With tail pipes exiting rear engine air outlet grill. The metal work onthe exhaust was done by my dear friend “Ed Lange” who a lot of Corvair owners knew, who is now watching this sale from heaven above.
Ithink I replaced the real wheel cylinders and rubber hose when I didthe front ones. But with so many collector cars, I just can't rememberfor sure. Car is a pleasure to drive. It drives like no other CorvairI've owned. It's like rolling back the clock to 1968 and driving my 19654 door 140. Think I'll miss this one the most. If you buy this car, youwon't be sorry. But if you don't you'll never know what you missed outon.
Theonly reason we are selling our Corvairs and various other cars we haverestored is we have decided it's time to do what we have planned ondoing our whole married life and didn't think that would happen. Wellit's time. Time to hit the road in an rv and live in it full time. Soeverything is going, as you may have seen all the parts we have beenselling so keep track of our auctions. We still have a lot more parts.
Will work with buyer in delivery and keep in contact on the progress of all aspects of the deal. Read Feedback from the coupe we sold last week.
