Description
This is an exceptional survivor and very rare factory air-conditioned Corvette LT-1. Only 240 of these cars were ever madethis is one of those 240! It is a 4-owner car that has 60,000 original miles, believed to be accurate, it has its factory born-with matching numbers engine and transmission, FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING, deluxe leather interior, power windows, power steering, power brakes and tilt/tele steering. Basically, this car was fully optioned when ordered new at Luby Chevrolet in Florida.
It has the factory CORRECT tachometer -1's with FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING came with the lower redline tach than non-AC LT-1's. This was to dissuade drivers from revving the engine high and potentially "throwing the AC an belt". This is indeed the correct tach, further testifying to the authenticity of this factory air car. The tank sticker includes the air option as well.
The exterior color, Classic White, is correct and matches the trim tag, as does the black deluxe leather interior. All matching numbers, and all colors and trim are correct. The car has never been apart; it's basically an exceptional survivor, but with a brand new paint. Car was stripped to the bare fiberglass/gel coat in a meticulous fashion and revealed a no-hit, mint condition body, then it was repainted in factory correct single stage Classic White paint. All body and paint work was done to the highest standards by Austin Autoworks in New Milford, CT. We also had Austin replace all of the weatherstripping with new. T-tops were re-adjusted and worn hardware was also replaced. Photos of the repainting process are available, just ask me for them - (text me) - to see the complete details and proof that it's a no-hit car. The chassis is clean with no rust issues, and the bird cage is exceptionally clean with NO rust. The paint is gorgeous! - and shines as perfectly as the day that it was delivered from the dealer. While we were at it, we replaced the original carpet with new and CORRECT deluxe carpet. The leather seats are beautiful, no tears, but just the right amount of "breaking in" / aging that you'd expect from a 60,000 mile car.
All of the date codes align perfectly with one another, attesting to the exceptional originality of this car;
GM engine casting number: 3970010: correct for this 350 cubic inch/255 HP (LT-1)
Engine date casting number: D262: engine was cast on April 26, 1972
Body build number: L23: April 23, 1972
Car build date: May 13, 1972
Full documentation from new includes the following;
Original tank sticker
Original Protecto-plate
Original Warranty packet from Luby Chevrolet to the original owner (Mr. Gary Brown)
Original Owner's Manual
All registration certificates of all 4 previous owners of this car
Bills of sale from one owner to the next..complete and unbroken ownership history!
Early service receipts for lube and oil changes ($ back in 1972!) by original owner.
This car and it's supporting documentation is a Corvette collector's DREAM!
The car runs, steers, stops, and drives extremely well. Everything works, the paint is fresh and gorgeous, the bright work and chrome is exceptional and it is ready to show and drive. Note: the original T-top bags are also included. Headlamps and wipers work perfectly - electric / vacuum systems have just been gone through.
For those with the highest NCRS standards - hunt down an original smog pump for the car, as we do not have one. Also, while not necessary to change to drive wonderfully, the carburetor that is currently sitting on the car is a Holley 650 - it is set up and drives perfectly - smooth and powerful! - but it is not factory original / correct for this car. However, I do have the very, very hard to find, expensive and correct Holley 780cfm carb for this car (Holley List ) in a box. It is included in the sale of this car and just needs a quick rebuild to be ready to bolt-on if you wish to.
The BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires are date coded 2015 and have plenty of tread left on them.
Here is a youtube VIDEO link of this beauty.
As you'll see and hear, it runs strong, doesn't smoke whatsoever, and sounds extremely healthy.
To summarize, this is a very rare and highly documented factory air-conditioned LT-1 with it's original tank sticker, original PoP, and complete ownership history from new! It needs nothing to be enjoyed, it's ready for shows, NCRS judging, or just plain fun behind the wheel - get in and drive and start having fun today, right now!
I encourage you to come see this car for yourself, you will not be disappointed. If you are a serious buyer, feel free to call or text me at (914) 282-7411 if you have any questions or to make an appointment to come look at this stunning car. Many more photos can be found at
