Description
You are viewing a 1967 Corvette convertible with both tops that is restored and ready to drive; I restored this car to be my personal driver and did a thorough "Driver", not "NCRS" restoration, although I am sure it would do quite well if judged. This is the perfect car to drive, enjoy, take to "cruise ins" and peoples choice car shows.
It runs perfectly, shifts perfectly, etc. Everything works, including all of the gauges, odometer, trip meter, radio, and original "ticking" clock, although it does not keep perfect time. The car recently passed New York State Inspection, which is a "feat in itself" for an old Corvette. If you are looking for an old Corvette you can drive and enjoy, this is the one!
The odometer reads 34,478 miles, I have no idea what the actual mileage may be.
I bought the car from the second owner in 2008, who purchased it from the original owner in 1971. Documentation includes the "Protect-O-Plate", warranty book, original owners manual, plastic bag, and AM-FM Radio manual. The previous owner replaced the gas tank, and unfortunately did not save the tank sticker. It has a BRAND NEW frame, the original matching numbers 327 has undergone a complete, no expense spared rebuild; .030 bore, new TRW 9.3-1 pistons, new non-emission stock 300hp cam, hardened exhaust valve seats, new SS valves, valve guides, springs, rocker arms lifters, push rods, polished crank, dated water pump, etc.etc.etc. The intake and exhaust manifolds are original to the car as is the bell housing. All of the belts, hoses, clamps, plug wires, oil filter canister, radio shielding vacuum lines, breather hoses, hardware, etc. are correct and new. The engine has 500 miles on it since being re-built, and runs perfectly.
I just changed the "break-in" oil and put in "Royal Purple"10W-40 synthetic oil.
The transmission is correct and has 4,500 miles on it since a complete re-build. The 3:36 posi rear was re-built at the same time, but is not dated correctly; it is the only major component not original to the car.
None of the accessory items (alternator, starter, voltage regulator, carburetor) are dated correctly, although the re-built water pump is correct and the distributor (re-built) is original to the car. The carburetor is a service dated 3810 which was restored by Custom Carburetors of New Jersey. All of the fuel lines, etc. are new and correct.
The car has a complete new AL KNOCH interior, the seat frames were bead blasted and painted before seat cover installation, which was done by Al Knoch with new buns, webbing, etc. The seat belts are original, have the correct bow-tie emblems, and were restored by Ssnake-Oyl Products.
The paint has great gloss and on a scale of 1-10 it would be about a "9". There are a few flaws here and there, but it looks great and gets everybody's attention! The bumpers were -re-chromed a few years back and look very nice. They are not "show chrome", but are in excellent driver condition. The body panels are all original, and as you can see by the pictures the body lines are very, very nice.
The hard top is original to the car and has been restored including a new, correctly dated window, new head liner, new weatherstrips and freshly bead blasted and painted garnish moldings. The convertible top is also new with the frame being restored by Sully's Tops with a new header bar. The convertible top weatherstrips are also new. The wheels are reproduction from Auto Accessories of America. They are the early 2000's vintage, made in the United States, not China. There are five of them, the tires are Michelin WSW and have 4,500 miles on them. The spare tire tub is complete and original.
The doors have been re-built including new seals, regulator rollers, stops, channels, etc. The vent window frames have some pitting on the chrome but look fine for a "non-show" car. The door weather-stripping is new, as are all of the other body weatherstrips
Other items that have been re-built, restored, or replaced are as follows:
New Frame, Vette Products of Michigan
New Body Mounts, correct bumper bolts, etc.
Front Suspension re-built (approx 5,000 miles)
