Description
Hey C4 fans,
July 7th of this year will be my 20th year owning this my first Vette, I am the second owner of this Car, I bought it sight unseen (well after I had it appraised) from a Guy in Tolland Connecticut, yeah I took a chance with buying a vehicle without hands on with it but it turned out to be a dream and relatively problem free car. of course I don't recommend this practice all you serious buyers have to see this one in person! So from Michigan I Flew out to connecticut and drove it home , oh what a drive. at the time I've never ridden in a Vette let alone drove one. for a 23 year old kid this was a dream finally owning a Corvette.
Unfortunately I'm Selling the car to fund a cross country move and have no place for it. The Car has always been garaged kept well beside's the extended weekend trips to the national Corvette shows. Sunny days and Cars shows has been the miles of my 86.
Alright, the notes on the Car and what comes with the price
- As of a couple weeks ago when I took it out for its possible last photoshoot it has 59,285 miles
- I had the front urethane bumper replaced with a American Custom Industries Fiberglass bumper last summer also during that time and paint of the new bumper I had the hood repainted by ACI as well ($2800) . soo the new owner is practically getting a new 86 Vette from the front. that new paint has less than a hundred miles on it. basically Have'nt driven the car since the new paint cause I knew I'd be selling it this year.
- The next owner is getting all my receipts and maintenence records
- As you see on the repo window sticker the car came with the two targa top option and you get that Body colored one, that is in excellent condition I think I've only had it on the Car twice, as I perfered the lighter blue tint top on it.
- 1996 I changed the Valve covers cause the originals were losing there color, but I'm throwing those in for the new owner in case they want to send them off for refinishing someday.
- Never been in a accident but I had the rear bumper from the door jams back repainted (ACI again) due to someone bumping into the rear bumper in a parking lot so insurance covered that mark. gotta love insurance for all that fresh paint just for a mark and scratch. that was about 14 years ago that was repainted and still looks great, the rest of the exterior car and interior and engine components are original color and condition
- 1998 I had the 2 3/4 inch cat back Power Effects adjustable exhaust installed, 5 position adjustable for sound and back pressure
- 1998 Installed adjustable rear spring bolts from Vette brake and products. to lower the wheel well gap to match the front.
- 2003 installed AFS 5 spoke ZR1 rims with 275's Kumo tires at 43,350 miles also same day installed GT Rotors ZR1 Big Brake upgrade kit, 13 inch rotors and twin piston calipers front. rears rotors in that kit are same size as OE.
- 2003 New clutch, throughout bearing, clutch slave cylinder and turned flywheel, don't know why that went out cause I honestly say that I've never turned a rear wheel on this car, always have driven my takeoffs respectively. does'nt mean I've never gotten in the L98's awesome torque range every time I've driven it wink wink. but yeah I've babied the clutch and was stumped why it wore out soo early in miles.
- The stereo I replaced with a GM CD player works great , the stock speakers work but like most Bose C4 speaker's from that time the internal amps are distorting the music at times. soo that might need addressing if you love your Radio Audio.
- Everything else on the Car works EXCEPT the heater , in fact the heater has'nt worked for like 16 years, I figured it was'nt a priority to me at the time as I knew I'd probally never be driving the car in cold weather, also in that heater not working the Fan control only works on the High position. The Air conditioning does work Great as I've had that serviced but now since the fan only working on only high you are either controlling vent position in the summer or roll the windows down So that will need to be addressed by the next owning, or not
- there seems to be a tiny hole in the original Cat before the Y pipe as you can hear that leak, so might be on the next owners to do list as well.
- Engine is tight and fresh and strong pulling shows no sign of blue or black smoke, besides the exhaust mod, for power I've only added a cut out air cleaner cover and K&N and throttle body airfoil to help with the air in. everything else on the Engine is stock for power.
- There is a minor oil leak underneath, no clue where it is coming from, so you will need to park over a drip pan if you have a nice garage floor or address that leak.
For a Almost 29 year old Vette this car is solid and well preserved. I believe it won't take much money to make it a almost perfect 86. I loved everything about Corvette over the years and it was a dream to finally own one. I've made lots of friends over the years caravaning to various Car shows, this car has brought me much happiness because of that. just have'nt driven it enough the last 10 years or so to warrant keeping it around on my move out west. I've moved onto different hobbies.
I Hope the next owner has the same passion I once did for this car and hobby.
The Auction might end Early as I have listed it locally
The thing I'll miss the most is walking up to this (and its probally 100's of coats of Zaino reflection haha)
I have 107 HQ pics loaded in my Flickr account email me and I'll send it along
