Description
1957 Chevrolet Corvette
Engine Code: F1110D
Serial Number: E57S104722
Body style: Hardtop Convertible
The Classic Car Appraisal Service carefully examined this 1957 Corvette Fuel Injected Hardtop Convertible on August 6, 2014 in order to make a determination of its current retail market value. The odometer on this Venetian Red with white coves Corvette shows 93,723 miles. Amenities include, but are not necessarily limited to the following: 1958 D-code non-original 283 V8 engine with original Fuel Injection; 4-speed transmission; mph, fuel temp, oil and amp gauges; tachometer; AM radio; heater; hard top (missing soft top); white coves and a Venetian Red vinyl interior. The tires are an older matched set of G78-15 whitewall 4-plys mounted on red steel wheels (missing hubcaps)
MECHANICAL: We did not start this vehicle but were advised of the condition. We were told that the engine currently is not running and hasn’t been started in about 30 years. The engine block serial number appears to be out of a 1958 Chevrolet 185bhp Powerglide car or truck. The engine may need a rebuild after 30 years of sitting along with its fuel injection system cleaned and rebuilt, seals and gaskets, belts, hoses, new battery and a tune up, as well as a brake job. The car is also missing the correct air cleaner.
EXTERIOR: The exterior physical condition of this vehicle’s fiberglass is very good, with no major cracks or repairs, but a few dings around the car. The car was repainted many years ago and it is now just in good condition. There are many small chips and scrapes all around the car. The chrome bumpers, handles, lights and trim around the car are all pitted and the stainless trim has surface scratches and dings. The original glass is in very good condition. All 1957 Corvettes came with a convertible top with a power top and hard top as options. This car is missing the soft top and has the hard top only. The hard top is in very good condition with the original plexi-glass rear window.
INTERIOR: The original red vinyl upholstery is in good condition with minor wear on them while the door panels are wavy with the arm rests deteriorating. The original red carpets are worn and ripped. The headliner in the hard top is coming apart. The dash looks very good, as does the steering wheel and gauges, but the chrome is all pitted.ENGINECOMPARTMENT: The engine and engine compartment are clean, neat and in good condition, but is not painted and detailed.
CHASSIS: The undercarriage is dirty and oily and has minor surface rust on the frame. There is oil under the engine, transmission and rear-end. The exhaust system is in good condition.
This 1957 Chevrolet Corvette is in fair to good condition. It has a replacement engine block not having run in 30 years. Chevrolet produced 6,339 Corvettes in 1957, of which 1040 were fuel injected cars of various engines. We use Old Cars Price Guide, Hagerty, NADA, CPI and CCMR price guides, along with Barrett-Jackson auction, Mecum auction, RM auction, Hemmings websites and our 30-plus years of experience to form our opinion on value. It is the professional opinion of the Classic Car Appraisal Service that the current market value of this vehicle is $55,000 (fifty-five thousand dollars). This car, in good running condition and new tires with hubcaps, has a market value of $65,000 (sixty-five thousand dollars).
