Description
1965 corvette coupe. Survivor with 69000 original miles. This car has never undergone any type of body repairs, and still retains its factory applied Glen Green lacquer paint on all surfaces of its St. Louis body. It has never been in any sort of collision, nor by any other means, has it ever suffered any damages to its fiberglass panels, that would have necessitated undergoing any manner of body repair and refinishing work. Gaps and alignment of doors, hood, headlights, bumpers, and grille have remained undisturbed, and as initially assembled, and set by General Motors' St. Louis assembly line workers. And on this particular example, are actually very nice and consistent throughout. This coupe retains all of its "born with", and date coded Libbey Owens Ford glass panels, with the only exception being a windshield replacement at some point in time. It has a green vinyl interior, none of which has ever been disassembled, or replaced. And aside from some fading in the color of the carpet (green loop), and the vinyl on the lower portion of the driver's seat separated along the valley of two pleats, the original interior has survived remarkably well. It bears repeating that this is a SURVIVOR car. And one that isn't only suitable for use as a static display model, or conversation piece, or over sized paperweight, but is in fact terrifically functional and unquestionably fit to be driven as much as one pleases! If originality and functionality are what you value and seek in a classic midyear corvette, this is your car! It is both, in spades!! Anyone who purchases this car, would be wise, and do best leaving it as it is. It can confidently be DRIVEN, the way it is, to any show one wishes. Whether it be across town, or cross-country. It's often been heard and repeated among classic car enthusiasts that "they're only original once", if you've ever pondered just what that old adage really means, or doubted, or questioned what the big deal is about it, after examining this old corvette coupe for ten minutes, you will understand. This admirable corvette commands respect anywhere it makes an appearance, and is adored equally by both classic car aficionado, and uninitiated pedestrian. And let's not even get into the effects it can have on the "corvette set", suffice to say "Man did that guy ever make a mistake parking that freshly restored '67 L71 of his right next to me, here on this field today. Poor guy, somebody should tell him that he'd likely be having much more fun if he moved his car to under that tent across the way, with the other six or seven vettes just like his. And at least that way he wouldn't have to risk ending up with bird droppings on that shiny and flawless new 20K$ base/clear paint job either!" Anyway here it is, it's a 1965 corvette coupe, Glen Green exterior, green vinyl interior, L79 - 327/350hp, Muncie M21 close ratio 4speed, 3.70:1 positraction rear end, blackwall tires, stainless hubcaps. Rock solid frame, zero rot. ALL ORIGINAL AND NUMBERS MATCHING. Only items ever removed and replaced in its 50 year life, were only ever the regular wear/tune-up/maintenance type components. Filters, plugs, wires, belts, one or two hoses, brake pads/linings. That stuff. The notoriously leaky delco-morraine corvette brake calipers have had the usual bore and insert stainless sleeve fix to remedy the usual problem. The original carb has been rebuilt and works a treat. And the exhaust pipes and mufflers has been replaced. That's all folks. This car has nothing to hide and neither do I. It's a piece of corvette history if there ever was one. A running, rolling, stopping, living, breathing dream of a historical textbook for future enthusiasts, that displays a beautiful and brutally honest patina, that cannot be duplicated quite so, at any cost, by anyone but the trifecta of Father Time, Mother Nature, and fifty years on the road. THEY'RE ONLY EVER ORIGINAL ONCE!!!!
