Description
Third owner since 1985, purchase
with 42,000 original miles. Today this car has a little over 90,000 miles. This stingray has been in a heated garage all
of its life. Documentation dates back to 1978.
In my possession the original engine was overhauled, balance and blueprinted to perfection by Zekes Automotive to 350 hp specs. The ignition system is still the original points, condenser. Never had an electronic ignition installed.
Transmission is automatic, TH-400 , Turbo hydromatic. Shifts perfectly between gears.
Suspension was also redone at that time from front to back (complete) polyurethane components. Mechanically in very good condition, runs strong and drives very, very, very straight. Spend thousands $$$$$ , many years ago. (all documentation on hand for all work done)
Car has BF Goodrich tires that have 95+% thread but they have been on the car since 1989, Even though they are in showroom condition, no cracks nor dry, I think they should be replaced.
All instrument gauges work, except, yes , the clock. The AM/FM radio is still in the dash however it stopped getting a reception about 15 years ago.
Please keep in mind that this car is 43 years old plus. Carpets are deteriorating in the front area; carpets in cargo area are ok. Passenger seat is in very good condition; however driver’s seat may need some re-stitching. Paint is also fading away (especially hood) and chipping away on the tailgate. I was never able to find a competent shop to repaint this car and have left it to the next owner to handle it. Basically what you see is what you get, nothing hidden by mediocre paint job.
Brand new Dyno-Max performance exhaust system that was sitting in boxes for years (discontinued) was finally installed summer 2014, from headers to tail pipe (complete). This car gets a fresh oil and filter change every spring even though I have only been putting a little over 100 miles every summer in the past few years.
This is a true C3, complete, UNMOLESTED. This C3 is truly all original, with the exception that I had the original block rebuilt and balanced to perfection, better than factory. This is the last front and rear chrome bumper model year (real chrome, not plastic crap). The car has T-tops and also has the removable rear window. Also has the t-top rack with accessory to hold t-tops in place while driving without them on.
This is the car, that’s the price. If I had kids this car would not be for sale, ever. Interested parties are urged and welcomed to visually inspect the car. I don’t have this car for sale locally; I am not interested in entertaining joy rides for nearby corvette enthusiasts. This car is a real gem in need of a little polish.
The car is presently in a heated garage, interested individuals are welcome to inspect it. However it will not be going out in the snow for any joy rides.
