Description
Selling my 1978 Corvette L82 pace car. The car has the 350L82, mated to an automatic transmission. This car is 100% entirely original, never any accidents, original paint shows some minor character and is what I would consider to be a "10 foot" paint job. Knowing that it is original paint, I would personally keep it this way. The car never had the Pace Car stickers installed, and the original NOS stickers are included with the auction. All the glass is good on the car, with no cracks or chips.
I have documents on the car going back to 1989 I believe (need to double check to be certain) stating at that time there was 69,000 miles on the car. Now there's 72,0000 miles, which I believe to be original.
When I got the car, it ran very poorly. I have since had it tuned up, and also replaced the radiator to the tune of $1400. Right now, it idles great, and runs and drives. That being said, I still don't think its perfect. It seems like the transmission is robbing some of the power, as it feels underpowered. I don't think its anything too major, as it goes into gear immediately, both forward and reverse, and shifts smoothly. As you can see, the seats need to be reskinned, and new skins are included. The mirrored T-tops work great, not sure if they leak as I never have it in the rain. There is no rust on the frame, bird cage, or anywhere that I can see other than the exhaust is a bit crusty behind the rear axle. The Speedometer isn't currently functioning, and the tachometer reads too high (i.e., when idling as it should, it'll read 2500 RPM when its clearly under 1000). I've looked into this and found it to be a common problem on this year Corvette, and sounds like its fixed with not too much trouble. The radio works great, and the rear antenna also functions and raises when the radio is turned on. All the lights on the car function as they should.
This car is not perfect, and my price reflects this. I have represented this car to the best of my abilities. I believe with some care over a weekend or maybe two you could have yourself a great running and driving Corvette L82 Pace Car. I'm selling because I'm hoping to purchase a different collector car.
FOR MORE QUESTIONS/ENQUIRIES: email me personally at [email protected]. I do not have an ebay account and am using someone else's. Please don't reply through ebay, but rather email me personally. If serious, I can provide my phone number, or call you to discuss further.
Also, I have a 66 mustang GT K code coupe that I maybe would consider selling, but would probably want to keep.
Currently the car is located with me in Canada, but I can easily provide shipping to Minot, ND or somewhere similar. I have an American title for the car, and returning it to the US is no problem at all, I've done my homework and checked this out.
