Description

Spring is just around the corner and time to get that summer cruiser. Being offered is a stunning 1966 327/350HP Corvette Stingray Sport Coupe with a 4 speed transmission that has just had a "frame on" restoration. All the glass and exterior components (doors, door handles, mirrors, bumpers, lights, etc) were removed and the car was stripped down to the raw fiberglass and repainted in flawless red. When the bare fibreglass was exposed there was no evidence of the car ever had been in an accident. The primer coat was clear coated so the painter could make sure the body was "laser perfect" before applying final colour. The finish was "wet sanded" between applications of clear coat so there is no "orange peel" finish to the paint. The car was driven from the shop that did the restoration into storage. There are no chips, cracks, etc in the flawless paint finish and 3 M protection was put on the nose of the car and side panels to protect the finish. The rear window was replaced WITH A NEW WINDOW because it had some scratches on it. So paint condition is as it was on leaving the body shop WHICH IS A 10 OUT OF10.
The chrome and all the bright work match the quality of the stunning paint job. The bumpers and grill were re-chromed and new door handles, parking/tail lights, gas cap and exterior mirrors installed. Corvettes received the desirable "Sting Ray" emblem on the corner of the hood for 1996. This is a exceptional looking car from 10' away to inches away.
Under the hood of this beautiful car is a 327/350HP engine coupled with a 4 speed manual transmission. The engine code is F0322HP6118105. The HP suffix code of HP indicates it is the 327 cu. in. 350HP engine. The previous owner had rebuilt the engine and it runs as new. No noises and doesn't burn any oil. I also installed a new 5 core radiator with an electric fan. A new alternator was also installed.
I installed a new clutch (pressure plate & clutch disc), release bearing and pilot bushing. The flywheel was also removed and sent to a machine shop and resurfaced. So there are no issues with the drivetrain in this car.
The car comes with factory air conditioning that blows nice and cool. That large "Frigidaire" branded A.C.. compressor is a rare sight for Sting Rays. Only 2,138 Coupes in 1966 came with factory air. I also installed a brand new A.C. condenser (A.C. radiator). So issues with either the A.C. or interior heat in this beautiful car.
The car has power steering and I upgraded the brake master cylinder to a "dual master cylinder" for safety. In 1966 these amazing Sting Rays came equipped with four wheel disk brakes as is this car.
This Sting Ray has the desirable "knock-off" wheels and I installed four brand new "red-line" tires to match the stunning red paint job. There is also a new "knock-off" wheel and new tire for the spare.
I also installed a complete new stainless steel side pipe exhaust system on this beauty. This also included the new outside covers on the side pipes.
I have an original AM/FM radio for the car that was working before I upgraded the radio to brand new IPOD MP3 Delco Wonder Bar Radio. This is a reproduction radio that looks and feels exactly like the original radio except the quality and sound is far superior to the original radio. In addition you can connect an IPOD, satellite radio or MP3 player to this radio. I also replaced the inferior original speaker with a great sounding new 200 AMP speaker. So, you can reinstall the original radio or leave this great radio that is in it now. Your car, your choice.
The black interior carpets had just been re-carpeted by the previous owner and are in excellent condition with no fading. The leather seats are in excellent condition with no rips, tears, etc. They show their character with minimal creasing in the leather.
There were only 9,958 coupes made in 1966. So after 50 years there are fewer and fewer of these collectable muscle cars on the road.
All the gauges work; wipers work and the headlights roll up and down as they should. I installed new headlight motors during the restoration. I have old motors that did work if you wish to have them. The trip odometer doesn't work so mileage indicated is higher than shown.
This is an authentic "turnkey" Sting Ray Corvette that has been tastefully restored both cosmetically and mechanically that you can take to local shows and Corvette gatherings. It's a great running car you can get in and drive anywhere with confidence. There is nothing that has to be done with this beautiful Sting Ray. It was to be one of my "forever cars" which is why I invested so much money into it. I realize I won't be able to get back what I've invested in it but I recently purchased 2013 ZR1 Corvette and a 2015 Viper TA. Along with my other cars, I've run out of room in my garage. My problem, your gain. Bid with confidence.
