Description
Up
for sale is a custom car that started out as a 1980 v6 el camino. It now has a
professionally rebuilt 1992 Typhoon Turbocharged 4.3L V6. It has approx. 11 k
miles on it since the power train was installed. The body needs some minor
dings taken out and a good repaint. The hood is a steel good Mark 2" cowl.
The bed has been rhino lined with the battery relocated to the bed. The Led
taillights are for a 1969 Camaro RS, turned upside down to match the rear pan
contour. The 16" wheels are 1986 Camaro Iroc as well as the Reupholstered
seats and Cardone reman. steering gear box. The carpet was replaced as well.
The sound system consists of a dual Digital Head with USB/Aux inputs, custom
door speaker enclosures w/ 4 speakers mounted, and a sub box mounted in the
smugglers box behind the seat with a pioneer 230 watt amp. The rear axle was
completely redone with a new 3.42 ratio GM gear, Richmond Power trax locker,
Moser forged street axles, T/A diff. cover, with new brakes and bearings. the
driveshaft was shortened and balance with new u-joints to accommodate the turbo
700r4 overdrive transmission that has aprox. $2000 in parts to include GM 5
pinion gears, beast sun shell, reinforced input shaft and drum, red eagle
clutches and steels, TCI constant pressure valve body, new upgraded HD pump,
2700 rpm stall converter with Kevlar lock-up clutch, SFI flex plate with ARP
fasteners and HD trans mount and crossmember. The vacuum brake booster was replaced with a reman. Hydo Boost for a 90 astro van.The engine had 67,000 miles and
came from a 1992 Typhoon that was in a fire, and was completely rebuilt with
.030 over sealed power forged turbo pistons, sealed power moly rings, eagle
rods, cleavite bearings, melling oil pump, arp fasteners, fel pro gaskets, comp
cams hyd. roller cam, Cloyes true roller timing chain, balanced nitrided
crankshaft, aluminum high flow water pump. The L35 V6 heads were sent to
atlanta where a 5 angle valve job was performed on Serdi equipment, and
reassembled with Larger 1.6 ex. and 2.02 Ferrea HD Stainless valves, GM
corvette LS7 valve springs with Comp cams retainers. Crane Gold 1.6 roller
rockers are used to open the valves with comp cams pushrods. ARP rocker arm
studs were also installed. A brand new distributor was used to fire the plugs
through MSD plug wires. Induction includes a larger than stock Mitsubishi TD06-
20g turbo with 37lb. PTE injectors. A new larger Pro comp Throttle body was also
installed. A racetronix injector harness was used to connect the injectors to a
gm ecm with the Prom programmed for the engine modifications. The intake was
port matched to the heads. The exhaust system is a 2 1/2" hooker dual muffler system for a Buick Grand National, which fit the El Camino perfectly. The fuel system is a 355LPH hp Walboro fuel pump
mounted to a gm fuel tank sender, installed in a new 22 gallon fuel tank, all
plumed to the engine with braided Teflon fuel lines. A new Billet adjustable
Fuel pressure regulator was used . The steering wheel and console/shifter came
out of GMC typhoon, the Digital dash came out of a 1992 GMC Jimmy and was
rebuilt before installation. The a/c system was all replaced to include the
condenser, evaporator, Compressor, accumulator and hoses/manifold assembly and
converted to r-134 and blows ice cold. The control head, heater core and blower
motor was also replaced. The radiator is new and was for a 1990 camaro with V8
HD cooling, the new cooling fan was for a ZR1 corvette. The rear tires are new
(dont know why they didn't last 10,000 miles..lol) The front disc brakes are
new with drilled and slotted rotors installed. The body needs a little more
work. I stopped the paint job 5 years ago before the clear was applied because
the few minor dings and dents are visible and not repaired properly. The
urethane front spoiler could use some work (repaint) also. The front windshield
is new and the rear glass was removed, tinted and resealed. The front nose is a
fiberglass component that is styled like a camaro, except i used real glass
light housings from a late 80's Chevy (new). The large inter-cooler also
resides behind the lower grill. The suspension was upgraded with f41 gm bars
along with bigger front and rear sway bars. I have invested lots of hours and
at least $14k in new/rebuilt components and i enjoyed the build and it is a
blast to drive. When Driven respectfully I get about 19 mpg, but i usually get
around 14-15 lol.
