Description

1969 Chevrolet El Camino454 BBCFull NSW Rego LHD454 BBC, T350, 12 bolt 3.73 posi LSD, 4 wheel disc brakes

I bought this car while living in the U.S and brought it back toAustralia myself. When I bought it, it was too low at the front, theextractors scraped on speed humps, the converter had way too much stall& hardly had any brakes. It was however in pretty good condition fora 45 year old car that had never really been rebuilt. Just before Ibrought it home the car had the following work done. New fuel tank &sender installed, new front & rear bumper bars, new shortyextractors, new radiator, new brake booster & master cylinder, newstandard height front coil springs, new rear calipers, front calipersrebuilt, new pads all round & new torque converter.

When the car arrived in Australia, the following work was done withparts I brought back with the car. New ball joints, tie rods, tie rodends & center link. New Monroe Sensa-trac load adjusting shockabsorbers (coilover type) fitted front & rear, Airlift rear springair bags, new headlights & tail light lenses, washable s/s fuelfilter & fuel rail, new heater hoses and new retractable seat beltswere fitted. The car was then first registered in NSW in April thisyear.

The engine is pretty much standard I guess, it does have anaftermarket cam, 780 vac sec holley, electronic ignition, extractors& dual exhaust. Transmission now has a TCI street rodder converter(stall around 600rpm over stock). Goes well & doesn’t get hot.

The body, chassis & floors are good with no rust issues. Utesection is straight and is painted with bed liner and the stainless trimis all there & in good condition. The car has been repainted atsome point before I purchased it and looks good but is not perfect. There is a small amount of clear peeling at the front of the bonnetalong with a few chips & scratches around the car. The passengerside front guard has had a repair at some stage & the colour matchis not perfect but hard to notice. There are no badges or chrome strips& it has the 1968 tailgate (no reverse lights) It has the SS twinbulge hood with the black stripes & the concealed wipers. Some ofthe photos show the colour as white but were taken in the sun. The paintis actually an antique white or beige colour which is close to (maybe alittle lighter) an original GM colour for 1969 called butternut yellow.

The interior is in good condition, door trims are excellent for age, headlining replaced & dash pad recovered before I got the car. Thebucket seats that were in the car were from a Chevelle or similar butthe position didn’t feel right so they were replaced with a set of newPro Car 90 series vintage bucket seats (the originals come with thecar). It has a new center console &wood rimmed steering wheel. Hasa Custom Autosound Classic stereo & speakers + ipod conection inthe console. Heater/demister, wipers, washers, cancelling indicators, steering lock, hazard lights all work, the clock does not. Side &rear windows are tinted.

15x8 & 15x7 Rally wheels with excellent stainless trim and255x60 & 225x60 BFG Radial T/A’s (lettering on the inside)with 90%tread. I also have a set of original polished Cragars (15x8 & 15x5)that I was going to put on that would change the look of the carcompletely. These can come with the car or be fitted before purchasedepending on the deal.

Great driver or weekend cruiser and still could use more work aswith any older car. Regrettable & genuine reason for sale, I’ve donea lot of work on this car but have only driven it 4 times sinceregistered. Price is negotiable but be reasonable, this is a NSWregistered big block car with lots of potential.

May take trade as “part” of purchase price for Landcruiser orPatrol, C10, F100, VN SS Commodore, other Chevs, Holdens, projects or amaybe a caravan. Call or send me a photo, you never know & I neverknow what I may be interested in. 0438 623 670 to arrange a time for inspection.
