Description
This '59 Elky is tough to beat for outright gorgeous and is an all round awesome ride.
What makes it go: It has a rebuilt late 60s 327 with a beefy cam and a 350 turbo behind it. 331 non-posi rear end, front and rear anti-sway bars, air shocks, and virtually brand new EVERYTHING on the entire chassis. It is a true total rotissoire restoration. Lock-out (his & hers) B&M floor shift. New 650 carburetor, and new aluminum 4-core radiator. New ceramic headers with 2" dual exhaust, and new beefier starter. Lots of chrome.
What gets it countless compliments: A combination of the 2010-ish Corvette/Saturn copper with pearl paint on main body, the Toyota sunburst gold on the roof and box cover., and the stunning GOLD (rather then pewter colored) foil adorning the side stainless runs. Also, the American mag spokes match the gold paint.
Other features: 11" and 9" radial tires. (Not tubbed). New correct bed floorboard (painted to match), covered with a heavy rubber mat and then corvette carpet. Underside of bed topper is carpeted to match. There's a new spare neatly housed under the bed. Disc brakes up front, new power steering (605), power brakes, power windows, '57 Corvette bucket seat frames upholstered with correct '59 IMPALA material, custom console with ample storage and built in switches for the cruise control, fog lights (where the bumper guards ordinarily go - of which 2 new ones are included with the sale), an ooooga horn, and a 12-volt power supply. The package tray is upholstered with Impala vinyl, which is beautifully embroidered with "El Camino." Much optional Impala exterior trim was installed. The low profile hood scoop is the style often found on Camaros, and the buyer also gets the original (still red) un-altered hood). Digital dash, VintageAir heat/cool system - works off original controls, and the car has original AC vents in the 2 dash corners. Custom smaller steering wheel 2-toned to match car colors, tilt wheel, chrome plated instrument housing. Electric wipers with delay feature and electric washer motor . Fully collapsible non-power antennae. AM - FM Casette with USB port for MP3 player (IPOD). Front and rear stereo speakers. The bed has amber LED lighting on the periphery of the box for loading and unloading in the dark. The lid has a hidden electric release inside the car as well as hidden manual releases. Tinted glass. Everything works.
