Description
You are viewing my 1965 Impala. I had the rare opportunity to buy this incredible car from the original owner that was ordered brand new by him in 1965. Actually, the gentleman was in Viet Nam serving our country when he made a phone call back home to his dad and said to order the car. After getting home, the car was used sparingly over the years he stated, and was always taken care of. The owner later ordered another car and put the Impala in the garage to save, sometime in the Fall of 1974- but as it turned out, life and other responsibilities took precedence and the car remained for many years in the garage, under a cover. The owner’s nephew did take it out a few years back and had the car repainted in its factory Ermine white paint (due to some moisture that developed under the car cover and wore some of the paint away in areas on the hood, roof, and trunk.) After I got the car home and detailed it, the paint shined right back up! All body panels are 100% original to the car and was never in an any type of accident. The car’s frame and floors and even front inner fenders are immaculate. I saw two small rust holes in the trunk, but is otherwise solid and has the original jack, spare and lug wrench. The glass is in great condition and all windows roll up and down with ease. All doors shut as solid as they did when new. Everything on the car works, including all driving lights, trunk light, dash lights, speedometer, gas gauge, lighter, and even the factory clock! The interior is in very good, original condition, except for 2 splits in the driver’s seat that were covered with a couple of strips of tape- otherwise, the back seats were only sat in a few times, the gentleman said, and it shows. The headliner, door panels, dash and steering wheel are in amazing condition, it even has an 8 track player that was installed some time at the dealer in the early 1970’s.The engine is the factory 283 V8 that runs great and the 3 on the tree, manual transmission shifts flawlessly. The Impala has been driven daily for the last 5 months after undergoing repairs to make the car safe and ready to be back on the road again. All brakes were checked and new drums and shoes up front were replaced, the back’s were still like new! The transmission was dropped and checked as well as the clutch-that still looked new! A complete tune up was done and the radiator, fuel filter, thermostat, and water pump were all replaced as well. The fuel lines were all cleaned out, along with the fuel tank. The suspension was also gone through.
The car is an absolute joy to drive and glides down the road while getting tons of attention. I had been debating on keeping the car because you just do not find these cars in original condition anymore, especially buying it from the original owner with all of the documentation for the car, including the Protecto plate, owner’s manual and factory accessory book. However, I have been waiting over 17 months for the engine for my 1969 Camaro to be finished and was delayed due to parts on back order and machine shop issues due to covid. I use the Camaro to drive all over the country promoting and raising awareness for a few charities that support our severely wounded troops-I’ve included a picture of the Camaro in the gallery. I’ve also owned the Camaro for 20 years now and needless to say, it takes precedence.
These 4 door Impalas have been getting so desirable over the past several years, the possibilities to make these great cars unique to you are endless-from LS engines, to custom paint and wheels and even air ride suspension. Speaking of wheels, the car will be sold with the original 14” black steel wheels and factory Impala hub caps with Brand New tires, unless you would like the 20” rear and 18” front Torque Thrust wheels and New tires for an additional price we can discuss. I only put the wheels on the Impala because they were on my 69 Camaro and while waiting for the engine, just figured I’d see how the Impala looked with them, needless to say…they make the car, in my opinion. I can send you a picture of the Impala with the original wheels/hubcaps on it with the new white wall tires. EBay only allows 24 pictures but feel free to contact me for any additional questions you may have or if you need any other pictures.
Thank you for your time and good luck bidding!
