Description
1965 Impala SS
Convertible. A true Super Sport. Purchased in 1985. Always
stored in a garage. Drove 3-5 times a year. We have loved this car. Drove it to
our wedding 21 years ago. Now we are downsizing. Time to pass this car onto
someone who will drive it and enjoy. Email for
questions. Provide a phone number, and we will call you back. We are happy to provide as much information as possible. We have additional pictures.
327 V-8 was rebuilt around 1990. The fender skirts were added about then. Exhaust replaced September 2013. It has a Hurst shifter next to the console. We have the tree shifter that is ready to reconnect. Mechanically very strong. Always starts and drives great. The odometer stopped working at just over 100K after the engine was rebuilt. Actual mileage is estimated to be 105,000.
Additional parts that will be sold with the car:
New exterior door handles Hood insulation Extra rear bumper Car cover Shop manual SS Hubcaps Wire spoke hubcaps Additional details:
The top goes up and down. It has an AM-FM stereowith Pioneer speakers. The body and chrome is verygood. The seats and interior are verygood with only a few flaws. The car did not originally havethe fender skirts. I bought it with the Chevy spoke wheelcovers. I have a full set of SS wheel covers. The spoke wheelcovers did not fit under the fender skirts so I run the SS covers in theback and the spokes on the front. A little unique, but I justlike the looks of the spokes. I know of no mechanical concerns thatwould prevent you from driving a long distance (1000+ miles). But Ihave never done this so I cannot speak from experience. I havedriven the Impala 100+ miles to the James Dean Car Show. I alsodrove it once or twice a year to a lake cottage about 80 miles away. I never had any issues. The tires are TA Radials. They still lookgood but they are about 20 years old. Over the winter they get alittle soft, but they hold air all summer. They have never goneflat. Very good tread.I believe the brakes are good. It does not useany brake fluid and brakes smoothly. The car is a three speed with a Hurst shifter. When we had the newexhaust system installed in September, we also had the bushings and/orspacers in the shifter replaced. It is shifting better thanever. Mechanic reported that the transmission was fine.I would say the lighting system is verygood. The headlights are all good. The last time I checked thetail-lights were all working. It seems like every couple of yearsone of the bulbs will stop working. I will take some sandpaper tothe bottom of the bulb and the connection. This has always fixedit. The back-up lights do not work. The front left turn signalworks if you keep a light pressure on the turn signal lever. Otherwise only the rear left signal works. There are no issues withthe right turn signal. The engine only comes close to overheatingin parades in August. Info from identification plate on the firewallinside the engine compartment: ST65 16667EUC 5234 Body T9815 R2paint I have described the car to the best of my ability. The car issold As Is. No warranty expressed or implied. The seller reserves theright to end the auction at any time. The car is for sale locally.
