Description

Moving to a smaller new home, and there is no room for this car in the garage.
This is a 1972 Chevrolet Impala convertible with less than 37,800 original miles. The body is clean and straight. I have clear title, and so far as I know the car has never been involved in an accident (aside from my son bumping it into the frame of our garage door -- which damaged the frame, but not the car).
I am the second owner. The first owner put about 32,000 miles on the car, kept the car in a garage the entire time, and sold it to me approximately 10 years ago.
I bought the car for my son, who put less than 5,000 miles on the car during the first four years that we owned it. Then, he moved to a location where he could not take the car with him, and the car has been sitting in our garage, rarely driven, for the past six years.
So far as I know, the engine and transmission are original, and only some minor parts have been replaced with modern parts. I also had the car reupholstered about 5 years ago, and the interior is beautiful.
I am not a mechanic, and I do not even know how to work on the car, but I understand from a mechanic who looked at the car within the past two months, that it is in fine running condition, and just needs typical maintenance. The car is not in perfect condition, but it is in very good condition for a 45 year old car. It is not a project, but it will require a little amount of work to make it a show car.c
Disclosure issues of which I am aware: A very small amount of the side molding has come off or is loose, and one of the handles to lock down the convertible top is broken -- but still functions safely to lock down the top and allow it to open. The rear side windows need some work to make them go up and down more smoothly, but they do go up and down. The convertible top goes up and down with a flick of a switch, and is not torn -- but, the top does not smoothly fit into the locking position when it is put up, and you need to exert a little muscle to close it properly. The same is true when you put the top down, it does not go down in a perfectly even manner, and you need to press it down a little after the mechanical part is finished. As previously noted, one of the two metal handles to lock and unlock the top when it is up is broken, but it does not prevent the top from being locked in place -- it just makes it a bit more difficult until the part is replaced. There is some minor rust in some locations (mainly on the underside of the car), and one of the four hubcaps is missing and there is some rust in the bolt to the wheel. Some sort of fluid is leaking (power steering? transmission?), but I have been told that is fairly common for a car of this age and is fairly easily repairable. If there are other issues with the car, I am not aware of them.
Please look at the photos, and do not hesitate to ask me to provide more photos -- I have many more.
I am asking $22,500, but I am willing to consider a reasonable offer. I have received a number of offers over the past few days, and I am inclined to accept the best offer I receive by the time this auction ends.
The car is being sold As Is, so please make sure this is right for you before bidding.
