Description

For sale is my 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe, with T-tops.
By now everyone knows there were only 6052 Monte Carlo SS built in 1987. Very few had T-tops.
This one is silver with the grey bucket seat interior.
I purchased this car from the original owner in Ossining New York in 2001. At the time it had 16K miles. It now has 21920 miles. I have all the original paperwork except for the original window sticker. There is a laminated window sticker and it is an accurate reproduction of the original.
Everything on this car is original factory equipment except as follows:
All fuel lines (from tank to carburetor), filters and fuel pump have been upgraded to prevent damage from ethanol.
The Quadrajet carburetor has been professionally restored (not rebuilt).
Front disc pads are ceramic lined which keeps the wheels much cleaner.
All rubber brake lines have been replaced with stainless braided lines and the brake system flushed.
Front wheel bearings are new as are the inner grease seals.
All belts and coolant hoses have been replaced with new Delco parts.
Cooling system drained and flushed and refilled with new Delco anti-freeze.
Trunk struts have been replaced.
The fan clutch was replaced with a heavy duty Delco clutch.

When I purchased this Monte, I replaced the factory tires with new Goodyear Eagle GT II tires with the correct white letters (outlined letters, not solid white). Shortly after, Goodyear stopped making those tires. Since the original tire could not be duplicated (and since I enjoy driving the car!), I removed those tires and placed them in storage. They go with the car. I installed new Goodyear Eagle tires for the same ride and handling. They do not have white lettering. I have added a picture of the car with the raised letter tires.
The paint finish is original and still shines. This is an indication of how the car has been cared for since most GM paint of that era did not last well. It has dealer installed pin stripes which were not correct for the SS. I left them on because that is the way the car was originally purchased and frankly, they do add some character to a silver car. The interior is flawless and has the original floor mats. I have the T-top bags. The T-tops do not leak when the car is washed. It hasn’t seen rain since I’ve owned it. I keep seat covers and other floor mats on the car when I use it and only remove them at car shows.
The car is in beautiful condition and has consistently placed ‘best in class’ at ‘Super Chevy’ in Maple Grove, Pa. It always does well at the local judged shows. There are some blemishes (remember I do like to drive this car.) but so small, I can’t make them show in pictures. This is easily one of the finest examples of an original unmolested Aerocoupe.
This Monte runs absolutely perfect and can be driven anywhere. It will, however, on rare occasions, blow some smoke on startup. I understand this is typical of the 305 engine. It usually only does this when there are people gathered around waiting for me to start it after a show or cruise night! I run only Mobil One oil and it never needs oil added between yearly oil changes. The air conditioning works. My Monte drives, rides and handles beautifully.
The reserve is set to match the car’s condition. I would encourage anyone interested, to inspect my car before you bid. I am located about 20 minutes southwest of the Phila. International airport, in zip code 19015.
I will require a $500 deposit thru Paypal. The remaining balance will be paid in cash or a bank / credit union check. The bank or credit union check will be disbursed directly from the bank. The banks local to me are TD, Citadel and Citizens.
Thank you for looking at my auction. Happy bidding.
