Description
For sale is a 1970 Monte Carlo. What sets this Monte Carlo apart from a lot of the others out there is what gets this one down the road. The power plant is a rebuilt small block, 4 bolt main Chevy 350 engine, bored over to a 355 cu.in. with approx 300 HP. The motor has maybe 15,000 well maintained miles on it. It was built with a Competition cam, roller rockers, and an aluminum intake, as well as a 700 Holley carb. The engine runs great and sounds perfect. The transmission is a rebuilt 700R4 4-speed automatic that had a shift kit added during the rebuild, which was done at the same time as the engine rebuild. It shifts fast and hard, but allows this car to run down the highway comfortable at 70 miles per hour. The rear end is a 12 bolt Chevy with 3:73 gears. From the engine to the rear end, it is a very good overall combination to make this a fun, driveable car.
The car gets down the road on a set of two year old 255-60-15 BF Goodrich TA radials with maybe 3000 miles on them. They are mounted on a mint condition set of 15" x 8" Classic Cragar SST rims. The chrome on these rims is perfect.
The base/clear paint on the car is good, but at 13 years old, it is showing some signs of age. Road abrasion, stone chips, and a couple of small areas where the paint has been chipped away (but touched up) make this paint at a 7 out of 10. The color is a factory Chrysler Inferno Red, so easily matched if repaint is required. The interior is a black cloth that was redone 8 years ago. It is in great condition, but has some areas where the sun has caused some fading. Sound is provided by a basic AM/FM radio.
This is an original Canadian car, coming from western Canada, where they do not use salt on the roads in the winter. It was brought to Ontario Canada 15 years ago, where it has never seen a winter, and only been caught in the rain twice. All original panels, floor boards, bumpers and trim help set this car off as everything is very straight. The odometer reads just over 31,000 miles but it is unknown if this has gone once over. There are a lot of bills to show the work that has been done to the car over the years.
This is a nice, clean, fun Monte Carlo to drive. It's a great car for the local cruise nights, and car shows as well. I would classify it as a solid, driver type of car. It's not perfect, but shows very well wherever it goes. If you are looking for a solid, classic Monte Carlo, this one is well worth looking at.
I am listing this car for a friend of mine. If you have any questions at all about the car, you can call the owner direct at 519-659-4401. His name is Stu. He can fill you in on all of the fine details of the car. He is more than willing to work with any potential buyer to drop off for shipping. If it makes sense, the car could easily be driven home.
Thanks for looking.
