1977 Chevy Monza Mirage

Very nice 1977 Chevy Monza Mirage that I purchased last October off of Ebay. The gentleman I purchased the car from was not very truthful about the condition of the car. I purchased this car in North Chicago and drove 300 miles to Cedar Rapids, Ia. I was told that this car was in very nice and running condition also that it had a new oil change and was ready to go on this 300 mile trip. Come to find out the reason the oil was changed was that there was more antifreeze in the oil than oil. With in the first hundred mile the transmission started to howl, come to find out it didn't have a transmission leak it was empty so with in the first 300 miles the transmission was shot. I was also told that this car had very nice dual exhaust the exhaust was only 1 1/2 in diameter it wasn't put on properly so the exhaust had to be cut off and scrapped. I was told this car was in very good mechanical condition here are some more problems the car had: The radiator was junk, the motor mounts were shot. The oil pan was sitting n the steering so the car didn't steer well. It didnt have the proper alternator brackets so alternator was not lined up properly and alternator was junk, i am assuming this is why he put a new battery in the car. So, I went through the car from front to back and have replaced will start with the motor: tore motor apart and both heads were cracked, so I purchased a new rebuilt set for $500; I had to have the cranked turned $100, i replaced all 8 pistons and connecting rods $299; replaced cam and lifters $200 with a set of comp cam big bertha thumper senes (middle size ones) (they have 3 sizes); new coyes double roller timing change $49; I put a set of stamped roller rockers but they were extremely noisy so i replaced them with billet aluminium 1.6 roller rockers comp cam $249; carburetor was also shot when I was told it was new so I purchased a new one edlbroke 600 CFM $300; oil pan was shot for rubbing on steering bar luckily i found a nice used one for $150; also I had to replace the shot motor mounts I found NOS motor mounts $200; The radiator of course was not good luckily i found a NOS radiator still in the box $200; I also found a set of original chevy monza alternator brackets $125; also replaced the distributor cap and rotor with a brand new accel also replaced alternator with brand new one form auto zone $79; replaced water pump from auto zone $79; also had to rebuild power steering pump and replace all the hoses; so now we have a brand new motor from top to bottom from front to back put on black chevy valve covers and black air cleaner $189; also replaced all the belts and hoses-both radiator hoses-upper and lower-both heater hoses and both belts..so on to the transmission the original 4 speed was shot to instead of rebuilding a 4 speed i had a 350 turbo automatic transmission built for the car had a b and m shift kit put in installed in the transmission all new clutch. New tranny pump corvette senos all new tranny lines and new transmission mounts new fly wheel torque mini staller and 2000 stall converter sorry but the stall converter is to small for the cam so it needs replaced with a 2800 rpm stall the car will not idol when it is in gear 1400 and need to put in care also had to buy automatic shifter brake pedal assembly and top of shifter counsol $300, so now we have a brand new transmission and everything that goes with it. If you are wondering why I chose ford blue for the color it is because I don't like the color chevy blue. This car will need some minor tinkering with---it needs the rockers adjusted and properly timed. It runs extremely nice.now for the exhaust the previous exhaust was 1 1/2 in diameter as far as I am concerned its just scrap metal so i replaced the exhaust all the way from the exhaust manifolds to the rear with 2 1/4 dual exhaust fits close up to the bottom of the car as possible $700; As far as the body goes it appears to be in very good condition and is very straight as far as I can tell rust free but is probable over due for a repaint there are some chips in the paint here and there and one dime size ding in drive rside door. The body kit is in very nice condition all intact the nose chin is in excellent condition there are two minor cracks by the rear spoiler a very easy fix the bottom of the car is very solid when we had it on the lift to do the exhaust all floor parts are rust free all the front end is rust free all of the rear inner fenders are rust free the drivers side where the control arm hooks are rust free,,I wish I could sa that about the passengers side it will have to be replaced where the control arm attaches there is a pic of the bad spot.the interior of the car is in excellent shape other than the drivers side seat the guy i purchased the car from had a towel on the front seat covering it didn't mention that there was a tear in it so other than the drivers side seat it is a 9 out of 10 there are no other rips in the seats, I have done all the hard work and have put a lot of money into the car. i purchased the car for $4,700 so you can see how much money I have spent getting this car to where it is right now . this car is 3224 out of 4098 there are very few left I did receive all the documents to prove that this is a true chevy monza mirage this is one of the true cars built by MTG in 1977 i also have a set of the original aluminium wheels that i will sell for $200 they have decent tread on them the tires and wheels on the car in the pic are a set of old school aluminium slots and they are chevy bolt patterns fronts are 14x6 and rears 14x7 they have decent tires if you have any further questions please call me my name is Todd 319-721-0501 will not reply to emails if you have to ask your banker, wife, or mother do not bother to call or if you don't intend to pay or if you don,t have 10 positive feed backs dont bid on car until you call me or i will cancel your bid. 1977 chevy monza mirage with the original 305v8
