1958 Chevrolet apache 32 I am the 3rd owner of this truck. It has less than 3000 miles since the build. The odometer reading is the original for the life of the truck. It started out as a long bed two wheel drive. I had the frame professionally shortened and swapped a short bed fleet side. The brackets for the suspension were pulled from a 1974 chevrolet truck. This allowed me to keep the factory frame and vin number while upgrading to 4 wheel drive. Also, it made it easy to order lift springs. I installed skyjacker 8" lift springs in the front and Pro Comp 6" springs in the rear to make it level. The truck has a 3" body lift as well.
The engine is a chevrolet 350 that came out of a truck. I do not know the mileage on the motor before I got it. It has an edlebrock performer intake and carb. HEI distributor with Accel super coil. headers and three chamber flow masters. The head gaskets were replaced and fuel pump was replaced simply because I had the motor out and figured I should when doing the swap. the transmission is a turbo 350 automatic with a Lokar shifter mated to a gear driven new process 205 transfer case. CV driveshafts front and rear. The front axle is a open dana 60 with 4.56 gears and crossover steering using a steering arm from ORU and disc brakes. The rear is a corporate 14 bolt with drum brakes and a gov lock. Rancho 9000 shocks all around. Power brakes are a CPP unit that mounts under the floor and uses a corvette master cylinder. The power steering uses a box off a chevy van. Tires are 38" super swampers on 16.5" aluminum rims.
The bed wood has been replaced with diamond plate. There is still a small hole in the rear corner where the gas filler neck comes through. It uses a blazer gas tank that is mounted under the rear of the bed. the filler neck hole in the cab has been welded up. All chrome has been replaced except the hood and front fender badges. The rear bumper is a ruenl with custom stainless caps.
The front and rear windows are new and the rear is tinted.
All new wiring harness from American Autowire with plastic fuses. The rear blinkers don't blink due to the lack of draw from the LED tail lights. Original style bulbs could be installed or an inline resistor to get it working. I have a new headliner but need to glue it in. Cab floor is lined with herculiner. transmission shifter needs a boot. There is no stereo or AC.
