1956 Chevy truck.
Small Window
Long Bed, step side
All of the restoration work done to this pickup over the last few years has been focused on restoring as close to original as possible.
Rebuilt original 235 inline 6 cyl. I have all receipts. Approximately 1,500 miles on the new motor.
4 spd on the floor transmission.
Rhino lined floor boards and inside of the firewall.
Dealer option oil filter installed.
All new headliner, rubber seals (doors, glass, vents). New wind wing glass and seals. New side glass and seals. Original foot starter. New, original style cables in the dash that work (throttle, and choke). New vent cables and seals.
Cab forward has new paint. I wanted it back on the road after being torn down for a number of years. I wanted the paint completed so that I could install all of the new glass, seals, rubber, etx and make it much nicer to drive.
Original rear end gearing. I have a brand new set of Yukon highway gears for it that go with the truck. Definitely need them installed if you have any intention of getting out of the right hand lane.
All new wiring harness. There is not a single old wire left in the truck. Front blinker harness upgrade.
I swapped the cabs out on this truck. The original cab that it had when I purchased the truck was terribly rusted out. You could almost peddle it down the road like Fred Flintstone. I purchased a second truck and swapped the cabs out. The current cab has had both of the rear corners replaced prior to me getting it. Solid weld work. The rain rail was removed from the cab and the entire roof/cab seam spot welded. I have photos of the process for anyone interested in seeing it.
The new cab already have the fuel neck through the cab deleted. There is not a fuel tank behind the seat. I installed a JAZ 16 gallon poly race cell between the frame rails at the rear of the vehicle.
Original style, wide white, bias ply tires that I found from an old timers tire shop. Great condition and plenty of life remaining.
While the cab and bed were off, during the engine rebuild time, I degreased and power washed the frame. POR 15 chassis paint on the entire frame. Photos of the process as well.
Currently have the rear springs flipped in the back. C-notch installed in the frame to support the low rear end. removing the springs and installing them on the top of the axle (as normal) will give it the stock height and ride again. Original leaf springs, just installed under the axle.
I have all of the paint codes from my local body shop who completed the final body and paint work.
I have focused on bringing it back with only (mostly) stock parts. I did eliminate the points/condenser and installed an electronic ignition disk in the distributor. It runs and drives great.
WHAT IT DOESN'T HAVE OR WHAT IT NEEDS:
The windshield wipers are not installed. I have two motors, the arms and the wipers. Just do not have them in yet.
I cannot get the Fuel guage to read the fuel level. I have trouble shot the ohm's from the sender and I am getting a reading at the gauge. Most likely a faulty fuel gauge. All other gauges work.
No radio
There are two small cracks in the paint. They are both on the passenger door. I can supply photos to show. One is about a half of an inch. The second is about an inch and a half in length.
I have done nothing with the bed. My intention was to swap it for a 58-59 longbed fleetside, but obviously I have not made it that far.
Heater core not installed. The heater core comes with the truck
Needs a new speedometer cable
Thanks for looking. It is a great truck. I have two little kids at home now and there is not enough room take the family out for a drive in it. I will be looking for another project with more seats once this truck finds a new home.

I am completely transparent with what I have done and not done to it. I was rebuilding to keep the truck for the long haul. Plenty of bucks spent replacing/sourcing new parts to make it correct. I have all receipts as well.
