Gateway Classic Cars of Louisville is proud to present this 1950 Chevrolet 3100! After World War II Chevrolet was looking to revitalize their aging AK Series of trucks and brought the new Advance Design to the market. The Advance Design series brought forth a new look that was well received and sales were strong. This series would see production from 1947-1955. Here we have a '50 model, and wow is she a beauty. This Chevy is one of the highest modified and cleanly built trucks we have ever had here! In the late owner's words, he wanted to be able to drive at 70mph and have the ride and steerability of a luxury car and be able to win some car shows. Avery's Paint and Body Shop was selected since a car painted by John Avery won a large local show. And so a frame off restoration began and brings what you now see in these images.
The Porsche Guards Red paint looks terrific and has a lot of depth to protect it with 5 coats of paint and 4 layers of clear on top! Was stripped to bare metal, repaired where needed and primered, block sanded, sealed, and painted. And even then was color sanded, buffed with 2 compounds and hand waxed. The tan ultra-leather upholstery with brown ostrich inserts looks very comfortable Seats, carpet, headliner all redone and in great order. The mechanical work was performed by BK's Rod Shop and is who installed the GM 350ci Ram Jet Crate Motor with Block Hugger Headers and 700R4 Overdrive Transmission with a stall speed convertor. Rear End is 10 Bolt GM Limited Slip Diff with 3.73 Richmond Gear Ratio for a balance of performance and cruising. Chrome Alternator, A/C Compressor, Valve Covers w/Aluminum Pulleys and Spark Plug Wire Looms. Straight Axle front end was replaced with IFS Mustang Power Rack and Pinion suspension with tubular A Arms. Frame was powder coated semi-gloss black. Braking system is a power boosted 4-wheel disc setup. Bed flooring is a Golden Oak with several coats of clear gloss urethane and polished stainless steel stripes. Tail gate contains hidden hinges. The restoration required much customization, shaved door handles, gas tank relocation, remove the cowl vent, fabricate a smooth firewall and install the hidden hinges in the tailgate. There is so much more. The build of this truck is really extensive and appears done to a high caliber!
The current owner has had her for 4 years and came from her late father. Custom airbrush work in great detail under the hood tells the story about Tom. This truck has been in the family for around 25 years and was a bucket list item for Tom and became a passion for him! I believe he achieved the vision he was after! The truck comes with a massive amount of documents, receipts, and entire album of photos of the extensive restoration! Also has a 1950 P/U truck cover, battery charger, extra spark plugs and more. The title is clean and clear. Don't miss out on your chance to own what could be one of the sharpest well-built trucks that we have seen in years! Options on this Chevy are: A/C, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Leather Interior, Cruise Control, Tilt Wheel, AM Radio, Seat Belts and Alloy Wheels. [ omitted ]. [ omitted ].
