Description
I am selling this for a friend and this is what he wrote about this vehicle..I bought this truck from the original owner, a rancher from Choteau, Montana. I was told that the original owner had the engine rebuilt before he sold it. That may be true as it runs extremely strong, and no smoke whatsoever. I think the carburetor could use a little work.
I have to believe this truck with options is pretty rare. It’s factory 4-wheel drive with a 283 c.i. engine and 4 speed. I think there was a longer wheelbase option and this is the shorter one. I own a collision repair shop and I bought and restored this several years ago for myself. I think the only rust we repaired was in the fenders, which we replaced. There may have been a very small spot or two on the rest of the body, which we would have cut and welded but other than the fenders, it was very rust-free and in original condition. The worst part about this vehicle is the owner had installed two small aftermarket windows in the side panels. We removed the windows and filled the holes to restore the panels as original. I think the restoration is about 5 years old and is still beautiful. I did not restore the interior. The original exterior color was blue. I did not rebuild the drive train because it ran fine. Other than the carburetor maybe needing a little love, it needs tires. If I was going to drive it, I would definitely put bigger wheels and tires on it to fill the wheel wells. It’s a cool old Suburban, very rare, with great bones.
This is what I have done to this vehicle ,I installed new plugs, points and drained the bad gas out and flushed fuel lines. I bled the brakes and they work great, this vehicle runs fine. I cleaned the carb, but the accelerator pump needs new gasket. Truck has a hesitation during acceleration. This truck fired right up with no smoke and idles great. I tried the wipers, heater, and 4wd and they all work. I noticed that all shocks have been replaced and new fuel pump. The battery is strong with a 2015 date on it. I cannot find any rust on the body and under carriage has been painted also. The truck has duel exhaust with cherry bomb mufflers and sounds good. One of the seats has been recovered and the other appears to be original. The wood floor in the rear is solid and has been painted. I would not hesitate to take this car to the next car show here. This car is sold AS-IS with no warranty. Buyer is responsible for any transport needs. $500 down payment is required with in 24 hours of auction end, and full payment within 7 days. Please ask any questions before bidding and I am happy to provide any extra photos you might want. This vehicle is available for viewing during auction.
