Description

Hello all…Golden Arrow Classics is pleased to present to you this super cool 1976 Chevy Cosworth Vega with its Twin Cam 2 Liter engine and the rare optional Borg Warner 5 Speed Manual transmission and a 4.10 ratio limited slip rear end. Most Cosworths had the standard Saginaw 4 speed, but this one has the optional BW Dog-Leg 5 speed which is super nice for the highway and also spirited driving. This 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega is #3,062 of 3,508 examples produced during the two-year production run and was originally delivered to Billings Chevrolet of San Jose, California. This is the first car that GM produced that had Electronic Fuel Injection, developed by Bendix for GM. This is a 34,100 mile bone stock survivor car with original paint (Mahogany Metallic) and original interior (Buckskin color, original except for the carpet which is all brand new, cockpit and hatchback). The CVOA has stated that there are only 36 examples made in this color combo. I would rate the paint an 8.5 out of 10 due to its originality and patina. Someone with some serious detailing skills could easily bring the paint up to a 9.5 out of 10. The interior is also an 8.5 out of 10 with no rips or cracks, only minor wear on the driver’s seat. The chrome and the trim on the car are super nice as you can see from the pictures (9 out of 10). The glass is all original, and I did install new driver and passenger window run weatherstripping. Further the car has zero fluid leaks (Engine, Trans, Rear, Coolant, Etc). Equipment includes 13″ gold wheels which were just restored (Powdercoated the correct shade of gold with polished outer rim, beautiful…), chrome trim, the factory AM/FM radio (the radio does not work, bring a bluetooth speaker along for tunes), and a gold machine-turned instrument bezel. She has a very nice original undercarriage as can be seen in the pictures. Please note at some point the car was jacked incorrectly on the driver’s front rocker and there is a minor bend to the rocker panel. You have to look really hard for this and there are pics in the picture gallery online. This Cosworth is equipped with Manual Steering and Manual Brakes and both have a great feel to them. All gauges work (including the oil pressure warning light) except for the clock which works intermittently. All lights and wipers are functional. Even the door buzzer works. In 2019 the car received new BF Goodrich Comp TA’s (2019 Date code) a new timing belt, alternator belt, fuel pumps (Fiero Upgrade), spark plugs and wires, new radiator and thermostat, along with rebuilding the fuel sending unit, fuel injectors and a transmission lube change. She actually passed the Calfornia SMOG test in 2019! In 2021 the car received a new upgraded bearing water pump, and a new brake master cylinder. She comes with tons of factory literature and documentation, backissues of the CVOA newsletter, the original owners mileage log, the build sheet, an extra Bendix FI ECU, and a clean North Carolina title.

I just drove the car in a stop and go Christmas Parade last week with the Antique Automobile Club of America that lasted over 45 minutes and the temperature sat right at 205 degrees. Cruising it runs about 185-190 degrees. Car runs and drives excellent and has run over 100MPH with zero issue. This car is a stand-out that has all the kinks worked out and is ready to be enjoyed and gets tons of attention. Bid to win!!!
