Description
Selling my Hyper Pak Canadian bodied AP6 Safari Wagon.
Fully rebuilt Slant 6 Engine (later 5 welch plug block, original block comes with car) hot tanked and crack tested. Bored 20 thou over, new pistons, rings bearings, mild cam, Romac Balancer. Head has been crack tested and fully rebuilt with new valves etc. Engine now has 9.3:1 compression and has done less than 1000km since being built.
Induction comes from a Clifford Performance Hyper Pak Manifold which has had extensive machining to fit under the standard bonnet and allow good access to the manifold studs. The headers and rocker cover are also from Clifford and all have been jet hot coated. The carb is a 500 Edelbrock which is brand new and comes with a complete tuning kit which enables you to quickly change rods to alternate between good cruising economy or a more powerful state of tune in minutes. The ignition has been converted to electronic also.
The transmission is the stock 3 speed (column shifted) and has been checked over and the oil has been changed, the same with the standard diff. The clutch has also been renewed.
The front end has had a complete rebuild with the K Frame removed, sand blasted and powdercoated, all new rubbers and engine mounts were fitted, a disc brake conversion using DBA Gold cross drilled and slotted VG rotors with VG Pacer hubs and calipers fitted, new shock absorbers all round.
Rims are Globe 5 spokes that have been polished and painted with new tyres all round.
The car itself has always been in Northern Victoria and I am the third owner, the body was not too bad although still has had extensive body work. The front floor pans were stripped back and found to be thin, so replacements were made and fitted. The plenum had the usual rust around the vent buckets so the top was removed, new buckets made and sections replaced before fully painting and refitting the plenum top so the bugger won’t rust again. The rear of the roof gutters were also rusted so they too have been replaced, the passenger side C pillar had rusted from the inside (outer skin looked fine) so the full pillar was replaced. And finally the tailgate was completely rusted so a frame was made out of three others and a new skin fitted.
The paint is probably around 60% original as I had intended to use this car on a regular basis and retain some of the bumps and scratches it had gathered over the last 50 years on the road.
The front bar is straight but really would be best rechromed, and the rear is in very good condition. The grille and all stainless moulds are good and the headlight surrounds are good driver quality items.
Inside the car new carpets have been fitted, the rear seat is original and could do with a retrim, the front seat is in good condition (springs, foam etc) but a previous owner had it recovered in a very basic fashion. The door trims are all in good condition, armrests are currently brown AP5 items. The car had a Smiths heater fitted at the dealership from new and works great. I have fitted a Retro Sound headunit so as to not have to cut the dash which is iPod and Bluetooth compatible. The original speaker under the dash still works and I have added speakers to fibreglass kick panel pods. The hoodlining has been lined with bamboo as the original hoodlining had a few small holes but it is still under the bamboo which can be easily removed. All weatherseals have been replaced and a new windscreen has been fitted. The rear 1/4 windows have several original waterslide decals from across Australia which fit in with the overall look of this car. There are also brand new period style seatbelts fitted for all 6 seats and Mooneyes Tiki Door lock knobs which can be removed and the originals refitted.
Just as I have finally got this car finished other things have come up in life so the car has to go. This car will be a great cruiser with a lot of time and money spent over the 5 years I have owned it. There are a fair few spares that come with the car including original rims and hubcaps, spare side cargo windows, new tail light lenses etc. The car has only been to a couple of small shows and attracts plenty of attention. You could confidently jump in this car and drive anywhere.
I have loads of photos of work carried out for those interested and as yet I have not been game to add up just how much has been spent on this vehicle. A large receipt file will come with the vehicle.
Inspections are welcomed for those interested, please no test pilots, happy to discuss the vehicle further, prior offers welcome, call me on 0407 265 426
May consider Forward Look Mopar trade up.
