2 PREVIOUS OWNER 1961 IMPERIAL (By Chrysler) SOUTHAMPTON 2 DOOR HARDTOP, LOTS OF LUXURY, LOTS OF GRUNT AND HANDLING
Further pictures will be added ASAP
L08 has been done, plated on beaver panel, permit to import provided along with the US title and all docs required to register in any state. I have 4 other full size US cars and no time to spend on this beautiful Mopar :(
Only 889 of these hand built 2 doors produced in '61, this years model Imperials regarded as Virgil Exners best design, with the highest tail fins found on an American car, free standing head and tail lamps, an innovative luminescent instrument display and radical dashboard design, square steering wheel. Dash, seats, doors and rear have been retrimmed, but without the original pleats, its very plain (grey and cream) and needs the inserts tarted up or pleated. Good carpet, nice dash pad. Spent most of its life in Texas, then purchased by the elderly second owner who was in love with it. He sold it because he could no longer get a licence.
Chrome and stainless everywhere, including on the roof, Factory stock chrome is beautiful but not entirely perfect, very clean set of wheel covers. Rebuilt 413 ci 350BHP RB wedge engine that really hauls, (more HP than 392 Hemi, only a few HP shy of the 300 letter cars), rebuilt strong Torque Flite 3 speed push button auto trans, torsion bar suspension with excellent cornering ability. Highly optioned with power steer, brakes, factory fitted A/C, heater, power windows (they all work), locks, seat, perfect tinted glass all round. HD 15" rims, same brakes as 300 letter cars. Paint is a 20 footer, has shrunk in the narrow convex area between front of fins and rear body, and in the boot lid channel, roof was rubbed in transit. There is some of the original paint remaining, enough to respray the roof and shrunk areas.
A very solid and straight car, full chassis, complete, nothing to find, comes with some hard to find spares; luminescent instrument pod with gauges, tail lights, some chrome, full complement of all parts required to rebuild front/rear suspension and steering, engine mounts, universals, power steer pump kit, pan gaskets, manifold gaskets, filters, A/C parts; new compressor, drier etc etc, several thousand $ spent on new name brand parts. A new fuel tank and sender unit fitted, engine and Torque Flite 727 pushbutton trans overhauled 5000 mls. Pistons, rings, cam, rebuilt starter and stock carb. Can provide set of 15" Dayton wires; chrome rims, gold wires if wanted, tyres needed but may do this if price is right. Recent brake work but wheel cylinders may require sleeving, I will obtain and include a new 1968 dual circuit master cylinder to replace the stock single circuit one, it bolts up, but a new joiner pipe will be needed.
Price is negotiable, and I will consider a trade or swap on a muscle car, or Thunderbird, Corvette, Camaro, Mustang, Mopar etc, US convertible or hardtop, US half ton pickup, pre war Ford, C10, F100-150 etc, mobile soda blasting unit, Forward Look Virgil Exner Hemi engined 1955-58, Plymouth Dodge or DeSoto, cash either way. L08 certification has been done and is plated (discretely!) Car is sold unregistered, as is, I will advise you exactly what is needed for a roadworthy, I have obtained all parts needed except a couple on back order in US. $2000 non refundable deposit by Paypal to confirm sale, balance of payment to be made in cash only, can organise delivery for you Australia wide.
