Description
1964 Daimler V8 2.5L Automatic Saloon
We bought this vehicle approx 5 years ago based on the fact that we could see on inspection that the body was rust free, the exterior paint was its best asset being immaculately glossy silver and not a single mark or blemish anywhere, that the glass and chrome was superb and that the interior dash and timber was superb and the leather had a lovely worn (but not ugly or ripped) patina look of which we have never touched apart from rubbing beeswax into it as it appeals on a personal level. We were able to tell by starting that the engine ran well and had good compression and no issues so mechanically all looked swell. The car was parked in a big shed and blocked by other cars so we were unable to test drive and we took a hunch based on the rest getting a good report card. When we got it home and took it for a drive we found that whilst the gearbox shifted smoothly without issue it, tracking wise, drove like a pig. So off to a Classic British Car specialist it went who suggested a few things get done but then there was the argument of "well if you are going to do that then that will let down this and this". So in the end a further $15000 was spent on just about a whole new undercarriage to include a whole new front axle assembly, ball joints and idler arms and springs, cables, total new brake system, total new cooling system including whole radiator and hoses, all oils emptied and refilled and a factory Daimler stainless steel exhaust set out from UK also to fit. Receipts for that work are available for inspection along with other documents. The car is currently up on a hoist ready for everyone to admire now how beautiful it looks from underneath as well as above now and see all the new bits and parts under and then take it for a drive and see that for what we are offering on it now is nearly half of what we have spent to get this to a point of a fully mechanically restored beautifully presented patina car. One last thing we did after getting it back was order from a UK specialist trimming company a new full carpet kit set and this has been laid as well so we set about loving driving this car for a few years and had some teething problems along the way at the early stages but eventually we found every little issue and it was trouble free motoring in the end but now it is time to move on and rather than try and recoup all our expense costs we realise that potential buyers will not fork out much more money than what we have on her for sale but potential buyers beware that this represents very good value for something that we have already found all the warts and problems in and you can get into a problem free beautifully presented original car. Pls feel free to ring John 0417 733057 with questions or email [email protected] and the car is located in Albion in Brisbane and for Qld buyers we can arrange for a RWC to get it registered easily or if interstate we have access to very reasonable auto transport rates.
