DATSUN 510 RACE CARS
Two Datsun 510 race cars are For Sale and will be sold as a pair. The owner of the 510’s is going back to college and no longer has time (or money) to finish these projects. The first car was bought and work started to prepare it for vintage racing when the second car came along that had a better race history and a rust free floor pan, so we started work on the second car(a 1968 Datsun 510) and stopped working on the first car (a 1971 Datsun 510). The cars will be sold as a pair.
The first car is a 1971 Datsun 510 that has some race history but it is unknown who raced it or where or when it was raced.
The second car is a 1968 Datsun 510 that was raced by Ray Russell out of West Virginia and is shown below (#88).
Details on the 1971 Datsun 510:
· The front and rear floor pans were rusty and cut out in preparation for replacement.
· Rear rust free floor pans from another Datsun were purchased but not installed
· The trunk was cut apart for a fuel cell
· The frame rails and other structural parts of the car are rust free.
· The roll cage was removed because it was unacceptable for use
· We started to seam weld inside of the engine compartment
· There is rust on the rocker panels like most 510’s.
· The doors and trunk and in decent shape
Details on the 1968 Datsun 510
· The car had box flares front and rear which we removed because they were very ugly.
· The floor pan is and always has been rust free. No patches on the floor pan!
· There is no log book, but there are some pictures of the car in race trim
· Included with this car is:
o New fiberglass full rear quarter panel with BRE flares from Futofab
o New fiberglass front fenders with BRE flares
o Full cage installed and ready to go. We enhanced the existing roll cage with improved door bars, cross bracing and seat/seal belt supports all tied into the cage.
o The car has been sand blasted and sprayed with primer to prevent any oxidation
o Fully adjustable front and rear suspension
o Heim joints and machined aluminum suspension mounts
o All suspension bits have been sandblasted and POWER PAINTED
o Adjustable rear sway bar
· There is a grill, light surrounds and the window wiper panel that is removable on the 1968’s
Extra parts included :
· 1600cc Datsun 510 complete motor as pulled from a car; oil and all is still on the motor
· 1600cc block and crank; both have been cleaned up and appear to be in excellent condition
· Two stock 4 speed gearboxes; condition unknown, but came out of running cars
· One 5 speed gearbox; again, condition unknown, but came out of a running car
· 4 – New stock fiberglass fenders
· New Fiberglass rear panel; this is the panel that the tail lights set in to and goes from the trunk lid to the seam behind the bumper
· 2- New fiberglass front spoilers
· Used fiberglass trunk lid; the lid would need a bit of fiberglass work to fit properly
· Extra set of Front doors
· Extra Rear Steel trunk lid
· Right and left rear quarter panels – rusty, but some parts are good to use
· Right and left rust free rear floor panels from an original Datsun 510 (okay, there is one very small dime size rust hole in the one rear panel)
· Rust free trunk floor panel including a rust free spare wheel well
· Extra rear windows and frames
· Welded diff gears
· Modified Corvette radiator modified to fit a Datsun 510
· 8 gallon fuel cell; the fuel cell would need new foam
· Race fuel pumps
· Extra struts, springs
· Various puke tanks
· Stock Aftermarket Aluminum wheel that could be used for rain tires (Not Libre wheels!)
· A couple sets of stock wheels
· Lots of other miscellaneous parts for a Datsun 510
