2 Dodge Challengers
1972VIN # JH23G2B437273318c.i. car with a 727 transmission and 8 ¼ rear-end. Upgraded to an aluminum intake manifold with a small 4bbl carburetor. The engine and transmission are in place and it might run with a new battery and a little work. This car came with air conditioning.
1973VIN # JH23H38124634340c.i (switched to 440c.i.) HP car with a 727 transmission and 8 ¾ sure-grip rear end.I bought the car with the 440 and transmission in place so it has the proper big block bell-housing, transmission crossmember and drive shaft. The car is mostly disassembled including no interior, front end steering or wheels in place. Have all new steering components partially assembled on the K-frame This car also came with air conditioning but no underhood components
About the 1972:
This car has rust in both rear fenders, rockers and at least one door. The floorboards are good as well as the trunk. There is rust in the top of the car that occurred under the vinyl top but above the headliner so it went undetected. It made a small hole which has been repaired but it will be up to the buyer to decide if they want to save what’s there or weld on a new top. This car was wrecked which caused the front fenders and fiberglass to be changed. The original hood is perfect and it is currently wearing the scooped hood from the ‘73 as well as the front fiberglass. I have another fiberglass nose piece and the original fender from the side that didn’t get hit. The frame is fine and the car is straight. One of the replacement fenders has some minor dents and they both have the bearclaw scoops. This car came with the standard dashboard and I have 3 sets of instrument clusters that go with the car. The dash is in place without instruments but it has an ugly dash-cap on it and I would recommend having it professionally restored. The front and back glass pieces are out so that the rails could be repaired and I have new clips and the sealant strips to put it all back in place.
About the 1973:
This car has far less rust, some in the rear fenders, a spot on the back deck ahead of the trunk opening and some spots on one door rail and door. It also has some rust behind where the dashboard goes that needs eliminating. Both front fenders have rust in the headlight bowls. This car came with the rallye dash and I have 2 rallye dashes that go with it, one electric with air conditioning and one with the air operated controls and no air conditioning vents. One dash is mostly assembled and the other has the gauge cluster and controls out but both sets of gauges, controls, caps, hardware and trim are there. Both have surface rust and cracked vinyl caps that will need restoration. Although unassembled everything needed to rebuild this car is there. All engine brackets pulleys, the power steering pump, bumpers, original wiring harnesses, heater box, engine fan, battery plate, big block radiator/oil cooler/transmission cooler, doors, hinges, steering components and even the original keys go with this car.
Extras:
I collected many extra parts both new and used as well as some custom pieces that I will describe here. Tail light seals, a rear bumper, some window and door seals, wheel well trim, trunk door trim, trunk pad, floor soundproofing pad, Hooker headers for the 440, and one carpet are among the new parts. All interior moldings, seats, headliner frames, window cranks, and lights are included. Extra pieces like headlight trim rings, the original intake manifolds, original carburetors and an extra set of interior plastic moldings including door panels go with the deal. I have 2 dashboard gauge clusters custom made out of aluminum. These will fit modern racing gauges (AutoMeters etc.) and can be adhered to the standard gauge cluster frames. I also had one aluminum center console plateand one lower dash plate made to match the aluminum dash and this is all included. I will include a set of fiberglass front fenders that are in great shape and could be used on either car. There are front seats for both cars and an original back seat for one plus one reupholstered set of front and back seat, three sets of front seats in all. There are three center consoles as well so you will have plenty of parts to put everything together and sell or save what you don’t use.
The 440c.i Engine:
This engine was professionally machined and rebuilt. It started as a low compression motor but the rebuild has it to where it should be turning out 400+ horsepower. The original iron heads have been port matched to the aluminum single plane intake and exhaust gaskets for improved flow. It got a new double roller timing chain, a new crankshaft and rod bearings. A high volume oil pump and Milodon oil pan and pick-up are in place with a windage tray for high rpm use. Internals are PAW SS high compression, teflon coated flat top pistons, Competition Cams Pro-Mag rockers, lifters and pushrods and their CL12-250-3 Xtreme Energy cam. I have the water pump and it’s all painted in Mopar blue. It will still need a carb, torque converter and high quality electronics to run. The transmission and rear end have not been rebuilt so they will need to be gone through and improved before any serious horsepower is sent down line. The motor rotates freely.
These could make 2 running cars with everything that goes with them. Both have been sealed with Por-15 on the underside to inhibit rust. The tires are shot but should be sufficient for getting them onto a rollback tow truck.
The Deal:
I have clear Tennessee titles for both cars. They will have to be towed and I’m hoping the tow company has some dolly’s or something to help with the one without its front end (I may endeavor to put the front end back on but no promises). I’m happy to answer questions and provide specific pictures of anything you’d like to see. If you’re a serious buyer, I will allow you to come view the cars so that you can make a decision. You will handle the towing and carting off of all of the extras and loose pieces that don’t fit in the cars as they’re towed. I have a site set up with more pictures and I’ll continue to add them over the next few days. It can be found here:
